Ok, now I have a question about chromium - if it eases the constant hunger -

how does that work? I take enzymes to replace those lost with my pancreas -

some foods I don't digest well. Can I use this or is it something I should

avoid? Whateer, I guess I should ask the doctor about this - but I have so

many and there are just as many opinions!!

I think in your case I wouldnl't risk it, . I don't know about the

rest of you, but I have found that doctors don't know much about

supplements and most of the ones I've ever gone to disocurage the use of

them. I have finally found one that encourages them, though!! Anyway,

without really researching them on your own, I'd be careful, . I

think the reason they lessen my appetite is because chromium helps you to

utilize your food correctly, which would mean my body is getting the

nutrients and not " craving " stuff like it used to. That's a guess, tho.

Don't know that for sure. My last 3-month test for BG control was 5.9, so

something is going right!!!

- Thanks for the chromium info. I know when I heard that it may break

down DNA I felt caution about trying it. I also have Hep C so anything I take

I have to watch out for possible liver complications. If you find the article

on the DNA breakdown be sure and let us know. Rebekah

What KIND of chromium and HOW MUCH, how often? You absolutely MUST take at

least 5,000 mg a day, 3 times a day, at least half an hour before meals or

you won't get any benefit whatsoever.

You are absolutely right. 5,000 mg per day is the goal for hydroxycitric

acid intake. Daily goal for chromium, though, for diabetics is 1000 mcg

divided with meals. 150 mcg per day is the recommended dosage for people

without diabetes. And, the best form of chromium is NOT piccolinate, but a

niacin-bound form, polynicotinate.

What a mistake! I'm glad you caught it. Thanks.

Most people, when they think of taking a chromium supplement, are talking

about chromium picolinate. This is not a very bioavailable form of chromium.

Chromium polynicotinate is much more bioavailable (it's a niacin-bound form

of chromium) and this form does have significant effect on blood glucose

levels.

Chromium absorption is also affected by dietary factors and other nutrient

levels in the body.
