Guest guest
Hi , The short answer is yes, you probably have asthma. But keep in mind, asthma is *usually* just an allergic reaction. Allergies show up in the form of hayfever, asthma and/or eczema. So your allergic reaction comes up as asthma. My DH is the very same. If we are in Oregon, he is fine all year, but has severe asthma from about mid-May to mid-July. (though our homeopath completely cured him of that!) When we lived in TX (10 years ago), my husband got allergy shots. After about a year of shots, he was able to go off of every one of his other allergy and asthma medications. Because his allergies were controlled, so was his asthma. (But we move around a lot, and he went off of the shots when we left TX.) So it sounds to me like you have an excellent chance of getting rid of your asthma by controlling your allergies. just my opinion, Marla I was diagnosed with asthma four or five years ago but I question whether I actually have asthma or severe seasonal allergies that manifest as asthma? I have no asthma symptons whatsoever this time of year with snow cover on the ground and below freezing temperatures. I actually feel like a human being but I know that about Memorial Day it's going to hit me like a lead balloon again thru till the next hard freeze in the Fall. I've quit Advair as I suspicion that combined with Sinulair was contributing to the lung infections that have been occuring several times/year. Don't seem to miss the Advair.Does it get back to the definition of " asthma " ? Do I need to move to Greenland? Thanks for all replies.------------------------------------
Guest guest
My almost 3 year old daughter has allergy induced asthma (dx'd this last June). We currently live in Virginia (now on flovent, nasonex, albuterol, zyrtec) and she had daily and nightly asthma attacks this fall when the neighbors were burning leaves. Now she is only having them a few times each month. When we lived in Colorado (wasn't on any meds other then nebulizer when she had an attack) she only had asthma attacks when she was sick. We are moving back this summer and hopeful that she will feel better again. HTH!
