I have such a sweet tooth. I've tried the sugar free stuff but can't eat too much of it before getting the " runs " . Never heard of carob. LOL >> My sisterinlaw sent me an assorted box of chocolates - some creme-filled made Fanny Farmer candies - from Rochester, NY - haven't seen them here yet though. Also, there is a candy store in one of our Daytona malls which sells candies by the piece - and they have Sugar Free - safe for diabetics it says - it is made with Maltilol. They have several different varieties. We had all sorts of inventive ways to spend Easter Sunday - Oh sure, there was a bunny for each of them - but that was about it - and I always made it myself - because the candy they sold in the stores were half wax anyway. I found the most ingenious places to hide those baskets! Sometimes it took them all day to find them. Some of the things we did were: My kids hated hard-boiled eggs so instead of real Easter eggs, I bought those plastic ones and decorated the outside of them - and then filled them with a non-candy treat - we hid them all over the house. The plastic eggs are an advantage that way because if one was forgotten - no smell! We would give the kids a special present instead of candy. There are all sorts of non-candy things you can fill an Easter Basket with - even for grown-ups. And then, too, it is a family day - so we have a nice meal - and play games, which my family loves - even today - and they are all grown and living on their own. There IS life beyond Candy!! :>) I think the idea of Candy on Easter Sunday is too stereoptypical anyway. For easter I plan to decorate real eggs (hard boiled of course) which will fit in just fine on my low carb diet - besides being fun And to help with the temptation of chocolate I will have " diabetic cocoa-mocha " I take a half teaspoon of cocoa, 1 teaspoon of instant coffee, add it to a cup of hot water and stir til melted. In June, the last egg was found under the cover of an old typewriter where the metal keystrikers were. Very strong smell!
