Guest guest
This is a response to the original post. The Work NEVER argues against reality. What is, is. It helps to unravel people's stories or beliefs as to what reality is. would call it insane to argue with reality. Guest guest
I heard work once with a woman with cancer. They talked about how the woman felt while she was doing happy things such as being with a friend. asked if the woman noticed her cancer while busy with other things and she said no. 's response was, Then during that time there is NO cancer. According to her, you are only disabled when you have the thought that you are. Guest guest
their response to you is about them, not about you. I would assume it varies depending on the person. if you see someone react to you and you attach to that, then that is where your pain lies and that is where you need to do The Work. vivian Re: When *work* may not *work* ! > > > > > > > > hi ltw > > > > you wrote > > > > Someone could cut off both > > > your arms and you could be totally at peace, because the CAUSE > of > > > ALL our suffering is our internal stories/thoughts. > > > > imho i don't find this kind of example not helpful as it is way > too > > far away from daily life. do you know such a person personally? > > > > lr > > > > > > > > > > Your story is causing you to be fearful. Guest guest
Are you serious? Why would you think it appropriate to limit anyone? How is that in any way in keeping with The Work? Guest guest
It is difficult to accept that everything about me is a story. It was a major hurdle for me, and friends bristled when I suggesed their lives are just a story. I have stopped saying that to people, but not to myself. A subject that I have investigated at length is choice. Do we have choice? I learned from Gangaji or maybe it was Tolle, that choice only comes when I am present (conscious), in the now as Tolle would state. If I am fully present in a situation, I may have choice, otherwise I simply react, unconsciously. Eating too much, drinking too much, complaining too much, blaming too much are done unconsciously. When I am conscious when such situations arise, I can make a choice. Doing The Work when a fork in the road appears is a way to become conscious about the fork. As Yogi Berra stated, " When you come to a fork in the road, take it. " Some do it consciously, some just do it. Both okay, but it helps me to do The Work. When I am conscious that I am running a story, often I pause, take a deep breath, run my story through The Work. Often, the story ends. That let's me go on to my next story, maybe one that is less toxic. B --- Vivian Barning wrote: > Yes, it was an extreme example. But the point is > still valid. > Let's say you have a bad headache. Guest guest
Whatever Rose does it perfect. If Rose did 10,000 posts per day, in one of them might be the thought that I have been waiting for all my life. Rose is my teacher, Tami is my teacher. Hitler is my teacher, the Dahli Lama is my teacher. Night is my teacher, day is my teacher. Health is my teacher, sickness is my teacher. When I am in the flow of what is, teachers appear as readily and as beautifully as red poppies in the spring fields of France. What is in it for me to resist anything? Only suffering. Guest guest
Just checking in to see if it was meant as humor. not taking oneself seriously is generally a good thing. wasting other people's time is a bad thing. but at least I get to work on being patient which is certainly useful for me. Guest guest
recently Yogi changed his saying. he sent a message to Tom Lasorda. When you come to a fork in the road..............use it to eat pasta.
