Guest guest
A 45-year-old woman is preparing to run the London marathon in April - pushing an oxygen cylinder. Lynn Ashton from Huntingdon, Cambs, damaged her lungs six years ago when a candle set light to a plastic table cloth and she inhaled the fumes. As a result, she now has to breathe with the aid of an oxygen cylinder. To enable her to take part in the race, she will have to carry her oxygen cylinder in a shopping trolley, and push it around the course. Lung disease She is planning to finish the course in about five days, and is hoping to raise £5,000 for the British lung foundation. "I have done a few sponsored walks locally but decided that I wanted to not only raise more money, but also raise the profile of lung disease. So I have decided to do the London Marathon. "I was recently diagnosed with bronchiectasis. I have been on oxygen 24 hours a day since the fire. "I had a nasal cannular for six years but I have just had a scoop fitted, which is a small tube going into my trachea." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cambridgeshire/4651494.st m
