Guest guest
Hi gang, It's nice to see this list picking up, there have been lots more posts and discussions in the last two weeks or so! I met a lady today who is mid-50's I would guess and has been dx'd as type 1 for about 10 yrs and takes insulin daily. She told me that she dropped about 50 lbs in 4-6 wks, and was incredibly thirsty and peeing all the time, which is what sent her to the doctor. I am t2 and didnt have the classic symptoms, so I want to know if losing 50 lbs in such a short time is typical or unusual. It sure sounds uncommon to me, but then I dont know for sure and this is the place to ask such questions! She then told me after she was dx'd and put on insulin she didnt get a glucometer as the importance was not stressed to her. So she had a tough time for a few years because she didnt really know how she was doing. She kicks herself now for not taking her health more seriously but there she was today, in the gym, lifting weights then she was down on the floor doing stretches! I had seen her there before and thought how good it was to see this woman doing a workout. She looks to be of average weight for her height which is good. She is the picture of health now, and very content with life in general. So even though she got off to a rocky start 10 yrs ago, she has turned things around quite well. There's hope for us all!
