Guest guest
Hey Diane, Boy That stinks. BUT WE LOVE YOU. I'm sure you will hear from Leanne. I think she has gone to 6 also and I know she works for the Foundation. give her a call. How about a little red wagon, paint it pink and load that puppy up with bottles and hit the streets. Sorry I'm not a very good humorist. I do know God loves you and he will give you strength to endure. I'm praying for you. Peggy Peggy, You are such an optimist...wish you lived with me. kiss kiss, ~Ginger~

Guest guest
Hey, Diane: I am kinda confused. You said your pulse ox was 86. I went to the mail box and back yesterday, which isn't really that far. I sat down and took my oxygen level and it said 76. Ofcourse, the longer I sat the further it kept going up. I just don't understand you needing 6L at 86%. Or maybe I just didn't understand it right. Barb in KYdianequinlan@... wrote: One of the problems about PF not getting more attention....funding, etc, is because it's fairly a rare disease. Not that it makes it right...and it's ridiculous that an actor has to get it before people pay attention. I'm so grateful that I have this group of people to talk to. It helps so much! I'm not being a good patient...I saw the pulmonologist on Friday last week and he had me to a short walk...of course, my pulse ox was 87%...so he wants me on 6 liters. My portable doesn't do pulse past 4 liters. So, it looks like I'm going to have to change to continuous. UGH! The portable I have now will last about 90 minutes on that rate....they have another that will last about twice that. The respiratory therapist came to the house to talk to me about my options....he said "I hear the pulse breathing.....that means you are not on enough oxygen!" So, I'm either going to have a tank that lasts 2 hours or I'm going to have to be in my wheelchair longer. So, I'm pretty bummed.....somebody, give me a pep talk, OK? --Diane Quinlan dianequinlan@... Guest guest
That was on 4 liters. It's been a rough week....I lost one of my golden retrievers this morning. He was 10 years old and just the sweetest boy. I was with him when he died....all I can do today is cry. I know it was the best thing for him....but it's so hard to say goodbye. I have such a headace from crying.... My home care company did bring me a continuous portable tank today, tho....it is supposed to last 4-5 hours on 6 liters. It's so hard to tolerate the flow....it's like hanging my head out the car window while driving down the highway. How do you guys deal with a higher liter flow? --Diane Quinlan dianequinlan@... -------------- Original message -------------- From: TongueDancer2U@... Guest guest
Diane, I am so sorry about your dog. I went to bed for three days after my favorite german shepherd died. I still miss her and that was 10 years ago! I also am wondering about your oxygen level.-How long did you walk? How long have you been on oxygen? I have had a frustrating week too- one doctor tells me not to use albuterol, the next says I need it beacue my lung capacity is at 39% and the albuterol raises it to 60. I don't know if these numbers are good or bad I just know that I keep asking for oxygen and they keep saying I am still fine. I am praying for both of us that our week takes a turn for the better (and I am still eating peanut butter cookies-on my second box now!) Guest guest
I walked for about 2 minutes...it wasn't long at all...I only have 38% functioning, too....people can have an asthma-like inflammation in their lungs....if you have that, then the albuterol would help you. I remember when I had my first PFT and they did a blood gas...I did the PFT...then they gave me albuterol and repeated the PFT....I remember feeling so much better...and I was thinking...WOW...I must have asthma!! Well, the PFT was no different....then I realised that they were giving the albuterol with 100% oxygen!!! That's when it really hit me that I needed oxygen. - were you just diagnosed? What is your pulse oximeter reading? Are you seeing a pulmonologist? If you have PF...you need to see a pulmonologist....family doctors are not trained to deal with this. Thanks for your kind words about my golden. Some people don't understand how hard it is to lose them....you never want to say goodbye, but all the years that we have that are fun...and their undying love....it's so awesome. I couldn't let him suffer. My heart is broken, but time will pass and I'll be able to remember happy times without bringing up the pain. I've got my other 4 dogs to help me smile. --Diane Quinlan dianequinlan@...
