Guest guest
I am so excited. I bought some ghee and Celtic sea salt yesterday. I also bought some coconut oil. I have been adding it where I can. Is a little pinch of the salt here and there enough to help? And of the ghee and coconut oil? How much do I need to use for it to be effective? I never thought of my son being one of those kids with autism with gut issues as he never seemed to have problems. The occasional constipation rarely has he had diarrhea and has only vomited once when he was sick. But. Now I am second guessing myself. He has had blood inhis stool a few times that I have noticed the past few months. I wonder now if he does have gut issues now that he has the blood. Has anyone else experienced blood I the stool? Thanks. Lorree Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
Lorree many don't think their kids have GI symptoms. My son was pretty severe in his symptoms and I didn't know it, because my pediatrician said it was fine and toddler diahrea. It progressed so badly and at one point looked like yellow dead animal with a foul odor. I wish I had saved those diapers for the docs. There is a range of severity that folks can experience. Constipation is not really well understood yet by most. Even if a child is moving their bowels they can be constipated. Loose stool/diahrea is actually a sign of constipation. The colon bringing water into the colon to move around blocked stool. Anything in the colon can become a breading ground for lots of overgrowth. Blood in the stool isn't normal, keep a close eye on this. I'm wondering if he's having rectal bleeding, even just a little irritation if the stool is difficult to pass...or if he actually is showing blood in the stool. This isn't something to panic over...but keep an eye on this and definately have this checked if you see it again as it may indicate other issues. I'm glad you feel so excited with your new oils/celtic salt. It feels so good to know that you can DO SOMETHING to help your child. I personally believe that when you feel good your family will thrive. Use these oils with all your meals/snacks. They are healthy, you can't go wrong. My kids get coconut oil, ghee everyday. There are gluten free oats, or hot quinoa cereal...you can add coconut oil to these...just stir in. Add some vanilla flavor (no sugar) Frontier brands and cinamon. This may sound way over the top....but my kids have been eating raw yolks for several years now. I top soups, and hot cereals with fresh farm eggs(not store)all the time. A few links below: You can find all of this at Whole Foods. http://www.frontiercoop.com/products.php?ct=fairtrade & cn=Vanilla+Flavor http://www.bodyecology.com/coconutoil.php http://doctorvolpe.com/alzheimers/coconut-oil-alzheimer%E2%80%99s/ > > > I am so excited. Guest guest
Lorree,Was it bright red blood? If so, this can be a sign of constipation and gut issues regarding that. Perhaps he is having to strain too hard? He could have even developed hemorrhoids due to the constipation. Even if a childhas some diarrhea, they can still hve constipation issues. I thought we had our son's bowels moving great on our protocol, but sever belly pain and an x-ray last week show us that he still has mega colon from years of gut problems and he is not evacuating his bowels effectively, so that means more tweaking of our protocol and changing things more. I would say that blood means he is definitely having some kind of issues there.Haven
Guest guest
Yes it is bright red blood. He was constipated. It wasn't a formed stool but what he calls "snowman poop". He does eat yogurt and apples which should help with fiber for bowel movements. What else could I give him to help him have better bowel movements?Sent from my iPhone Lorree,Was it bright red blood? Guest guest
Forgot to add that he usually has normal stools. This has only happened off and on and isn't a typical occurrence. Nor is the diarrhea. It's just that I noticed it recently and a month or so ago. He usually just goes to the bathroom independently so I don't know when he gone or not. Guest guest
I'd take the dairy away, it's very constipating and mucous forming...and the kids crave it. You can do other probiotic foods to replace the yogurt. Flax meal and lots of water may help him. Our kids (adults too) typically aren't drinking enough water. Another skill to work on. He needs to drink half his body weight in ounces each day. Not mixed with juice etc... You can mix flax meal in applesauce. SCD websites and Body Ecology Diet websites will show you how to make cultured probiotic foods to replace the yogurt. > > > Lorree, > > > > Was it bright red blood?
