Guest guest
<side just started twitching...I couldn't stand up for a while, as I had no control over my body for about 5 minutes. This really scared me. Has anyone else experienced this? Many times (especially when in bed or curled up on the couch) I'll notice mile twitching in my limbs. Most of the time it's just an arm or leg, and it's not severe, but it's enough that it's annoying. Is this a part of fibro? > What medications are you taking? The summer before last I was taken off of klonopin cold turkey and my celexa was raised from 40 mg to 60 mg. After a few days, I was walking down the hallway and all of a sudden I started dragging the right side of my body and leg. I made it to the bed and then started what appeared to be seizures except I was totally conscious. My husband called an ambulance and they brought me to the hospital. There was a period in the hospital when I did lose consciousness and my husband says my eyes rolled back in my head. They discharged me only saying that my pottasium seemed a little low. I went that morning to my doc and when she hit my left knee with the reflex hammer again I started convulsing again while being awake, but having slurred speech. I was an emergency admit into another hospital. They did an EEG and while they were doing it I had another " spell. " They determined that it was not a true seizure because it was not coming from brain wave activity. It was my muscles. Ever since that happened I have the jerks every once in a while, not to that degree though. I was also on Neurontin at the time and since that has been discontinued I have noticed that the jerks are less. Both Neurontin and Klonopin are used for seizures also. I sometimes wonder if these medicines didn't change my brain chemistry and create this problem (JMHO). The medicines were written for me for neuropathic pain and anxiety. Hope this helps some. Sorry it is a novel. gentle hugs, Sundra

Guest guest
<I have a small list of meds.....Neurontin, Clonapin (which I was out of at the time of the " convulsion " ), Lexapro, Seroquel, Wellbutrin XL, Fiorinal #3, Tylenol #4....that's all I can think of now. I'd been low on the Clonapin and was taking a lower dose (my husband takes it too, and I was sharing mine with him) I ran out the day before my episode. I've noticed that when I have muscle spasms and twitches, the Clonapin stops it. That's probably what happened. cyn> Cyn, It sounds to me like you had the same experience I had and the key denominator is the absence of klonopin. So, therefore, I would attribute it to klonopin withdrawal. You are never to stop taking it abruptly or it can cause convulsions because it is a anti-seizure med, but is also prescribed to us for anxiety, restless legs, etc. hugs, Sundra
Guest guest
Cyn, I forgot to add too that Neurontin is also an anti-seizure medicine as well and should not be stopped abruptly either because it can cause seizures. I don't think we should stop taking anything suddenly because it can cause problems. I always panic when I get low on Klonopin because I remember my horrible experience. I was only on .5 to 1 mg/day at the time which is a low dose, but still had problems. gentle hugs, Sundra One day at a time
