Thank you for the information. Do you have a link to Dr. Lowe's web site?

I would be interested in looking into this further since I do have

Hypothyroidism and Fibromyalgia.

-The link is www.drlowe.com. Dr. Lowe states that MOST fibro people have

hypothyroidism, that is undetected by blood tests. I have this myself, and my

type of hypothyroidism is called euthyroidism. I am resistant to thyroid

hormone.

I was hesitant at first because I thought it was a rip-off of some sort, and I

was

tired of trying " one more thing. " But $100 is for a 1200 page medical manual.

There is also one for $30 that is better for the layman. I suggest that anyone

who is serious about having their doctor follow this protocol get the $100

manual and you take it to your doctor. You MUST find an openminded doctor

who will look at this book and UNDERSTAND it. The $30 manual is out of

stock on Amazon, but the large book is available. Maybe Amazon could be

the way to go if you wanted to return it, I don't know.

A doctor who gives you a traditional thyroid blood test may not pick up on the

hypothyroidism, because some of it is detectable by symptoms only (like

mine, with is euthyroidism). I had " normal " blood tests for years but is

obvious

after understanding Lowe's determination of thyroid problems and the fact that

I am using thyroid and getting better that I DO have thyroid problems.

The other reason you might want the $100 book is that there are

details, details in implementing the treatment. For example, I also take

adrenal support supplements because if you have a weak adrenal system,

you could feel shaky when you get the right amount of thyroid. You also have

to monitor yourself when you increase dosage, and I fill out a daily monitoring

sheet. I also have a prescription from my doctor for something to combat

symptoms if I had an overdosage ( you can get a rapid heartbeat or

shakiness). Actually, once you reach the right dose, you should have a

higher resting pulse. Now, if you don't know about these type of details or

your doctor doesn't, any one of these holes in knowledge could prevent you

from getting the right dose.

I like the $100 book because there is no doctor that can read it (full of

medical

references, medical studies, I mean this is a book for medical school) and say

it isn't backed up by facts. It is.

I am so excited about this I even wrote a registered letter to Oprah, telling

her I

know a socialite (she once had on the show) that had fibro. I was willing to

come on the show and discuss other issues, like how Unum (a long term

disability insurer) routinely rejects fibro claims and forces people to go to

court

(like I did). I also was willing to bring my service dog and talk about access

issues. However, I got no response. In fact, I heard from people either on this

list or another that she had a really bad show on Fibro and even brought in a

faith healer! Go figure.

Now I'm feely sorta mopey that my dog might not be able to go out in public

with me all the time once I get completely better!

There's a ton of info on the website (www.drlowe.com) and my doctor in

Illinois summarizes the protocol and various underlying causes of fibro on his

website: www.integrativecarecenters.com. Dr. Berndston is my IL

doctor who, because my MI doctor refused to read the book, agreed to

continue prescribing for me based on my daily monitoring of symptoms, etc. I

am taking a very scientific approach to the treatment and not taking any

chances of getting it wrong!

> 1200 pages and $100?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?! DANG!!!! My personal opinion is

if he really cared about helping ppl, he wouldn't charge such a high dang

price for his book!!!! But that's just me.

Hi all:

I've been increasing my thyroid (cytomel) at recommended by Dr. Lowe in his

1200 page

book " The Metabolic Treatment of Fibromyalgia) and his website.

I'm getting less fatigued and my pain is much, much better.

I was hesitant to buy the book a year ago, tired of trying all the

treatments and failing. The

book is also $100. There is a companion book for $30 that is good for us

non-medical

people.

1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list

as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr.

Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to

certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.

2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't

be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that

situation better.

Have a nice day everyone.
