Guest guest
I never mentioned what my challenge would be but I challenged myself to drink more water while at work. I have a plastic bottle that holds 16.9oz of water. What I've been doing since the challenge was made, was to drink at least four of these bottles before lunch. After lunch, I try to drink at least two to three more. That would give me a minimum of 67.6oz to a maximum of 118.3oz of water. So far I've been able to fall within these two limits. So far, so good. Steve. Guest guest
NEVER will I give up on you, Shelia! <G> I know its a struggle sometimes, I struggle everyday to drink the water and watch what I eat. I'm sorry you can't get into ATkins... it does take about a week to overcome those carb withdrawels completely. However, if T-Factor works for you, go for it! This isn't about fencing anyone into one straight and narrow way Its a journey in life and everyone has his or her own path to find. I recognise that my weight problem arose from my hyperinsulinism. Low carb solves the hyperinsulinism for me so thats my path. Not everyone has this problem although it seems to apply to most people w ho have had a weight problem all their lives. I could (and did for a while) go the low fat way but I was unhappy on that woe. I was hungry all the time and had wild cravings, I would fall off the wagon and then berate myself for my lack of will power. Now I understand that the excess insulin in my body was what was making me feel so ravenous. When you have too much insulin your body seeks something to use it on! Now with Atkins, I am out of that cycle. The only cravings I get are psychological ones (emotional reasons to overeat) which I can deal with now that I don't feel like I am starving all the time. I came home from work yesterday and my bg was 81! I woke up with a bg of 101. Yes I am still diabetic, it hasn't been " cured " by Atkins - I know better than that. I am controlling it <----- ME . What a powerful feeling that is!! It doesn't matter what method you find to do this, but this is what you must do. Low fat, low carb, gnaw on tree bark - whatever course helps YOU get into control and feel good doing it I applaud your flexibility and the fact that you are seeking and looking into options to do this. Many people tend to give up. But not us here on this list! We are going forward and finding ways to help ourselves and our listmates with our vision toward all avenues, acknowledging that we are all different people who's bodies behave in sometimes strangely different ways. Sugar busters is low carb but different from Atkins. I don't know it well so can't explain it well, but it does have a web page out there, as does Protein Power and TheZone. Have you tried TheZone? If you have trouble with very low carb it might help you. It balances carbs and proteins and fats. Water: ugh me too. Someone suggested keeping it in a tall bottle with you all the time and drinking it through a straw. For some reason, you seem to get more down by using a straw Keep it very cold (unless you like it warmer), try adding a little lemon juice to give it a little flavor. Tae Bo, eh? I haven't done that. I've seen it once on TV. I do Jane Fonda. I seem to do better if my exercise is sorta like dancing instead of feeling so much like EXERCISE lol. A lot of folks say that Tae Bo is fun, tho. My sister is into it so I will have to go over there and try it with her one day I bet watching it got your heart rate up <G> Don't be jealous of your SO - let him be an isnpiration to you If he isn't diabetic, remember he probably isn't as metabolically challenged as you (altho losing weight is still hard!! don't take that away from him! ) Hang in there Shelia... we can do this ! ! ! I did however go and buy a Taebo tape. LOL!! I have watched it >twice!!!!! Mike on the other hand has lost about 20 pounds!! I am proud and >envious of him. Well I will do it but will have to chose another plan. Have >you heard of Sugar busters? What is that about? Guest guest
Thats great, Steve! I've been trying at work to do that also. But I work in a very busy place (hospital) and sometimes I look up and half the day has disappeared and my water bottle is still full <sigh> but I grab it and chug it then hehehe. Good thing there is a bathroom nearby! Meenie Re: Challenge > > >I never mentioned what my challenge would be but I challenged myself to >drink more water while at work. Guest guest
Hi Fellow Challengers Our Challenge is coming to it's end. Monday is the last day (or would you count Tuesday?) Either way, we are on the home stretch. How have you done?? What did you think of the challenge? Did you try to incorporate the positive thinking into it? I would suggest we continue by either adding another thing to our list if we did well, or by going at the same ones again if we had trouble . You can surely begin to see how hard it is to change a bad habit or create a new one! I hope you all enjoyed this little experiment If anyone would like to start a new challenge, feel free to suggest it and see where it goes!
