Guest guest
.......I KNOW the weather affects our pain level. We are expecting a storm tonight and I could tell that without hearing the weather report!!! My in-laws lived in Florida for years.....in fact, Dad still does. And they made a pack to leave every time a hurricane was predicted. Of course, they were in their 60's and had plenty of moolah. I think someone with children and pets could not do that. Hugs, Cam weather and FMS How much a part does weather affect you and your pain? I live in Florida and while its hotter than hades currently, I do find that rainy weather has been affecting me and causing more pain especially in my knees and hips. Today have had the tv on all day for hurricane news and they were saying that the low pressure from hurricanes can aggravate artheritis and other pain in people with chronic pain. Great, not only are we in the path of Tropical Storm Charley, but its going to make the pain worse? Well, am off to the store with the other 2 million people in our area to buy water and batteries. I'm telling you that if our electric goes and we have no air conditioning, I won't have to worry about how bad I hurt. I absolutely cannot stand the heat. I may have to check into a hotel or something upstate. Because hot and sweaty and hurting is not somewhere I want to be. 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
I've always had trouble with low air pressure systems. They make me feel achy all over, and many times trigger migraines. cyn At 03:51 PM 8/11/2004 -0400, Waggoner wrote: >How much a part does weather affect you and your pain? cyn clmerritt@... Guest guest
No....No....NO! You are not allowed to move to Florida, or anywhere else for that matter being I am only moving an hour away from you! *L* has been laughing at me because I was like hey, will only be an hour away, I already have a friend where I am going! *L* He is worried once you and I get together, being all TWINSY and stuff that we will cause troubles...so he intends to keep us busy with all sorts of projects. Guest guest
, I'm really late to this discussion, but the weather affects my Fibro a LOT! I live in Ohio, where the weather changes constantly, and very rapidly, so this is a constant source of aggravation. The summers tend to be very humid for the most part, which is horrid on my pain levels. And when it rains, like you mentioned, that brings on the old aches and pains too. But the absolute hardest time for me is in the winter. It can get bitterly cold here in the winter, thanks to the Arctic blasts we get coming in from Canada...there are a lot of times when the temperature, wind chill factor, or both are well below zero. I was in horrible pain this past winter (my first after being diagnosed), and boy was it rough! My doctor tells me that wintertime is very hard on Fibro patients, and he wasn't lying! I used more FMLA days during the winter than I did during the rest of the year combined. Fall and mid to late spring seem to be my best times. The temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure seem to stay more consistent, and reasonable. I cannot bear extremes when it comes to the weather. I also know when the weather is changing, because my body feels it even before the change actually occurs. Yet another " fun " aspect of the Fibro monster! I hope you got through the hurricane alright, and that you didn't have to suffer with Fibro symptoms alongside the devastation it brought in it's wake. I hope you and all of your family came through it safely! Jen
