Thank you . I appreciate the link and all your information too. The dr who did this blood work is Dr Spurlock. I went to him for thyroid but will he be able to adress all of this other stuff too (viral bacteria stuff)? I go for my follow up end of next week but just had them send me my labs before hand so I could look at them before my appt.

Another level that concerns me too is something called Natural Killer Cell LU 30....my result was 3 and it says the reference range is 8-170...are you familiar with that? I have searched it some but still confused.

No, I have not been very good with exercise....I so know I need to but my hip hurts so bad that I am fearful the treadmill will even make it flare even more...but I am going to start...even if it is just 5 min to start and work up from there I am going to do something....I am only 33 and have a 5 year old little girl that needs her mom!! Thanks again!

Re: High cardio crp levels

You should absolutely discuss these concerns with your doctor. High CRP levels reflect inflammation, which has been correlated with heart disease, but can also be associated with other diseases. In my experience exercise is the most effective way to reduce your CRP. My CRP at 50 is lower than my 18 year old sons because I do cardio routinely and he does not (he just does weights).

Here's a good overview of CRP (I find Dr. Kaslow's analysis of what the lab results mean to be extremely informative):

This should help you figure out what questions you want to ask your doc - e.g., has the doc tested for underlying infections such as fungal or viral? The latter is very common with folks with Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue. Bacterial infections such as Chlamydia pneumoniae are also believed to be a causative factor for heart disease. The discussion of the latter is extremely interesting in Dr. Kaslow's analysis (based on medical research). I actually met Dr. Kaslow at a medical conference on infectious diseases and he was about the only doctor there that was actually paying attention. The majority were sleeping as they were just there to get the CMA credits.

I will note that I have all this viral, bacterial and fungal stuff and am still able to keep my CRP (as well as HDL cholesterol) in an extremely healthy range with exercise.

I know high cholesterol can be indicative of thyroid but what about high cardio crp levels...I got my lab results today but don't see the dr until next week to go over them and the high Crp levels are just concerning to me b/c I feel like I have so many heart issue symptoms even though I have seen a cardiologist and had a stress echo and he said my heart is fine. Just wondering if any of you had any insight on this. Thank you so much!

Yes, Dr. Spurlock should be able to address the infectious issues.

The function of Natural Killer Cells is really quite complicated. They are

important for dealing with things like viruses and cancer cells. Each of the

different types have slightly different functions.

Low values are not usually a good thing. Mine are also low. There is some

research correlating celiac disease with lower levels of natural killer cells.

The correlation is also quite complicated.

Low levels can also be due to heavy metals.
