Guest guest
There are varying degrees of skill among compounders. This is crucial for thyroid meds. Dr. Spurlock tells his patients to use Doughtery's or Abrams Royal. One lady insisted on using a compounder in Mesquite for her SL T3 75 mcg. They had the drug analyzed. It came back at 600 mcg. At my request, he sends my thyroid and HC scripts to Womens International Pharmacy in Madison WI, because I need the olive oil fillers and don't require timed release meds. They also have an excellent track record. >> So when I got my perscription I went to Doughtery's in Dallas mainly because they took insurance and even if my insurance doesn't cover it by billing my insurance then whatever they don't cover gets reimbursed out of my health savings account which is before taxes. I can submit a manual reimbursement but that can be a big hassle.> > However, I know that some people on here seem to think that which compounding pharmacy you choose can be almost as important as finding the right doctor. For the DFW does anyone have recommendations on compounding pharmacies (or reviews - I didn't find a list like there is one for doctors). Also, please include mail order pharmacies.> > I'd also like to know the reason for recommending a particular pharmacy.>
Guest guest
I was using Doughtery's because of the insurance, but I found that I was paying more for my sons' compounded thyroid than the cash price at Abram's Royal. It does vary as I pay twice as much for my progesterone at Abram's Royal than I did at Doughtery's. The big bonus for Abram's Royal (I use the one in Plano), is that you don't have to wait in long lines. I found it rare to go to Doughtery's and not wait in line. .
