Guest guest Posted May 25, 2012 Report Share Posted May 25, 2012 The Fine Motor Skills debate needs some basic facts clearly stated: · There are no muscles in your fingers. · The control center for the hand is in the lower arm. · When you move your fingers, there is a muscle ripple effect all the way up the arm to the back of your neck. · Learning to release the grip requires muscle co-ordination in the lower arm. · Picking up pins is not the place to start developing fine motor skills. · There are a set of skills prior to fine motor skills that must be developed first. · Any keyboard is the best place to do this. · Fingerpainting is also usefull.
