Guest guest
Bill - When you get the flaming e-mails from people calling you a " sinner " because of participating in medical studies just remember that not too long ago people thought it was useless to wash hands - take baths and many other basics that we know today to be essential in medicine and good health - I commend you for participating. Guest guest
I have a question for those of you who suffer from headaches, palpitations and raise in bg when you consume aspartame. Was your aspartame consumption in the form of soft drinks? If so, did the drinks also contain caffeine. Caffeine can cause all of those symptoms, too. Just curious. in Cincinnati

If I were careful and had the caffeine-free variety, the symptoms were lessened but still there. Funny thing - tea has caffeine in it - and it doesn't seem to affect me as much - I never add any sweetener though. Makes me wonder if the sweetener isn't a catalyst of sorts for the caffeine in the product. in Port Orange, FL
Guest guest
Yes it was with soft drinks but......I don't have the same effect with Diet RC also, I did get it with SF Jello and now I make my own with Kool Aid and Splenda I don't have a problem. There're those words again - Splenda and Diet RC !! I am really frustrated with this! Went to Walmart yesterday to see if the actually did put Diet RC on the shelf as my daughter said - and well..... no Diet RC - in fact no RC at all - only Diet Rite cola filled both sections. and they were all Aspartame - I think someone got the message/order wrong. GRRRRRR! Well, it's back to Walmart again to check on this one - couldn't find a soul to help the other day in that department. Seems that Walmart in our area is changing gears and some of the dietetic/diabetic products are no longer available so they are cutting back on all of it - I pointed out to a number of the dept heads - that I could find that is - that perhaps they weren't putting enough of the product on the shelf and they were selling too fast and the shelves weren't being replenished fast enough. All of them said they would double check on my complain/request and see if more of the products could be made available - Very frustrating - Seems like every time I find a product I can handle, it is taken off the shelf because it isn't a big seller. I pointed this out to the dept head of the bakery section in particular and told him that it wasn't necessarily the case that majority should rule - I mean look at the overabundance of sugar products in that dept alone - can't they mak one little concession to have a corner with products for diabetics?! He said he understoood my request but he has nothing to do with what the home office does - even the decision where he displays his products is left to the home office - they now display donuts on the aisle where the sugar-free was and they are not selling at all - GOOD! - maybe that'll help them to understand that we're important too! Maybe I'll go complain to Publix. :>) in Port Orange, FL
Guest guest
All the WalMarts in the north have the Diet RC as well as the President brand that is starting to do a change over with its diet soda. I see there is now a root beer with the Splendia in it. We have the same problem here with the no sugar added bakery items. I have to drive over 8 miles to get to one that has them as most of the stores on my side of the city do not carry the products as there is not enough call for it. Many say that it is not used because there is added fat to replace the sugar. Bill Newman -- Rochester, NY wtnewman@...
