I applied in Dec. 2005 and it is effective June 2006.

Medicare is not effective for 6 months after that date.

Ann,

I am so happy for you. I don't undertand why it is not effective immediatly. Here, Medicare does not become effective for 2 years after Social Security approval. I was approved my first time of applying, too. Congratulations and God bless, always.

Ann, Here in Fl. you would get SS from the date you apply. Do You ? I hope. Peggy

Here in Texas...you get *back pay* from the day you apply...even if you are denied the first time or two, you are paid from the very first time you applied, once you are approved. But still the two year wait on medicare.

Ann,

Good news! I know from experience that it is a great relief that some income will be replaced. It is like a double whammy otherwise!

I'm glad for you - we just received our denial in the mail - any suggestions or helpful ideas for getting this approved??

Kim,

What reason did they give for denial?

Social Security Disability

Hi all,

Today I got good news in the mail, that my Social Security Disability was approved. I applied in Dec. 2005 and it is effective June 2006.

Medicare is not effective for 6 months after that date.

I feel so blessed to be approved on my first try as I have heard horror stories of so many being denied on their first try.

Good news on a lonely, rainy day, after the grand kids went home as Spring break is over.

God Bless You all,

Ann

wasnt sick enough - he has worked for the same company for over 20+ yrs - only education is high school - they say he should work where he is at but denied because he should be able to work doing something else. I'd like to tell them to try being 50, employed at the same job for 20 yrs & then go out & find something different.

Kim,

Don't give up on this. Appeal this decision and address this, to the SS Administration. Write it down just as you have here regarding his 20 yr employment with the same company and HS education, and age. Also, sit down with the Dr. and see what he wrote regarding the prognosis, even get a copy of it. I don't believe you mentioned if he was still working or not. Their philosophy is...if you are working now, you obviously are able to work. But if your not working, then you have no income, and won't have one till that SS is approved. Most times the SSA gives a reason for denial. If you can find that out, it might be easier to confront those issues.

Let me know if I can be of any help at all. I will keep your precious family in prayer.

thanks - he's not currently working - but his work is seasonal so he's laid off from Nov to May. That's what I was wondering, when we first applied - we didn't really get to say anything just bascially give medical release for every doctor - I want to write out what I'm thinking & then have them review that but not sure if that's how it works. We are in the process of starting the appeal - just wish it wouldn't take so long to do & find out the answer - but it's gov't for you, lots of red tape.

Thanks Kim
