Dear Fellow Members:

Sorry that I have not been available lately to put in my " two cents " ,

but it seems that you do not have the availability of the internte

when you are in surgery sand ICU! Needless to say that much has

happened since my attempt to move closer to my hospital. All went

pretty much as splanned for the move. Foiund an appartment close to

the hospital that suited my needs, drove down to make it all official

and unpack to stay a while.

Now, please remember this all starts on the 21st of May! Arrived at

Charlottesville, Virginia the morning of the 21st, and notified my

coordinator of my change of address about 11:00AM. his now qualified

me officially to be moved from my " status 7 " listing on the list to

an " active " participant. Well, believe it or not, I got a call from

the hospital at 12:10AM the 24th that I had been matched and needed

to get to surgery!! (37 hours later!!!) I'm not even unpacked yet!!

At this point I can not stress enough the importance of being

prepared. But, all things went smothly and the surgery started

around 7:00AM on Wednesday. This is now the following Wednesday, and

I have been given the OK to go back home (with a new lung, and the

absence of supplimental oxygen!!)

Do not get me wrong, I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get

back in shape after my 4 year fight with IPF, but now I KNOW that I'm

going to make it!! They say that you can tell when you wake up in

ICU that you either know or not if things worked, and I'm definately

here to tell you that is true for those of you who are IPF sufferers!

Thank al of you for your prayers, concerns and just kind thoughts

since I have been part of the group. And if you need any specific

informatyion regarding what to expect, just drop me a line, and I'll

try to help andwer any questions or concerns you might have.

Feeling great again,

T.

Hi , How much did you weight when got IPF and how much did you weight before the lung transplant? Just wondering, because I was told I wasn't a candidate for lung transplant. But, I'm getting a second opinion the 23 of June at the University of Minnesota Hospital. wrote: Dear Fellow Members:Sorry that I have not been available lately to put in my "two cents", but it seems that you do not have the availability of the internte when you are in surgery sand ICU!
