Congrats on your results, you are doing great! About your question, I would say your friend is partially right. Partially, because any exercise is effective when done regularly and a lot of people I know do tae-bo exclusively with great results!! However, other people, like myself, have seen more dramatic results by cross training (inducing " muscle confusion " , a term coined by the FIRM, another form of workout). The added benefit of cross training is the variety, lessening the risk of boredom and hence increasing motivation. Janick
Guest guest
Welcome le! Congratulations on your 20 pound loss. Yes, your body will get used to an exercise if you do it all of the time. I don't know how many different tae-bo tapes you have, but I think if you shake them up, your body will not get into a routine. What I mean is each tape focuses more on one move than another. If you rotate them, while you are doing a similar workout each day, one day you will work one muscle more than another, will have more of a cardio workout one day more than other, etc. You can also take some days off from tae-bo and do another workout such as yoga, walking, running, etc for some cross training. I'm sure others on this board can explain this better. Kerri who likes the name le --- tomdelongesaliengirl wrote: > Hi all. Im new. I started usinf tae bo about 2 > monts ago. Guest guest
hi danielle! welcome to the group! mix up those tapes to keep your body guessing and to relieve boredom from doing the same tape over and over. personally i like to do a basic tape one day and an advanced tape the next. if i do this i dont get sore or bored and can do taebo every day. does your friend do taebo as well? if not then she might not really know what she is talking about. do what feels best for *you* and *your* body. it does help to have a bunch of tapes so you can mix them up... the tapes are really varied... yes there are some moves in common between the tapes but billy mixes them all up and modifies them so if you can mix your tapes up enough you never do the same workout over and over. someone here (i think it was sandie) told us that billy has said to rip the labels off of your taebo tapes and each day just pick one and do it congrats on the weight youve lost already!!! wow! that is fantastic! keep going! *~*~*~*~* Carolyn in ONT Canada todays workout: advanced live 2 (awesome!!) Guest guest
oh i meant to add danielle, that 2 years ago i lost 30 pounds and a number of sizes just by doing the studio basic tape every day (took 5 months). back then i had no other tapes to put into the mix and i was a beginner so it was all that i could do and it was still very effective! *~*~*~*~* Carolyn in ONT Canada RE: > you you Tae bo everyday does your body somehow get use to the > exercises? Do you have those tapes? If so, do you feel as if you get a good workout? I may have asked this question before....I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself, but I'm very interested in those videos. If you do the same exercises (i.e. the same tape) each day, your body can get use to it and thus may cause you to hit a plateau. But that can happen with any form of exercise. But by shaking things up a bit, do different tapes that work the body in different ways--whether it be different Tae-Bo tapes, other tapes, walking, dancing, weights, etc.--your body will get use to different workouts and not " know " what's in store for it on any given day. I'm one of the ones who has every Tae-Bo tape, so I have room for variety each day. But if you can't afford to get them all right away, try to add other things (even walking or turn on your favorite music and dance away), if you hit a plateau. I think it was in response to a caller, I don't remember. But anywho, he had said that as a way to keep your mind guessing as to what it's going to be doing that day. TQ also mentioned on the boards that she did that as well. Sandie, Tae and Bo )!!!!! ===== " The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us. I have a few of the older videos, and I really love them all. My favorite is Maximum body shaping, which is a total body resistance training tape, with minimum cardio. It's only 45 minutes, but I feel sore the next day. I also have Time Crunch Workout (mix of aerobic and strength 45 minutes), Fat Blaster and Better body and buns (mostly aerobic, some strength), 5 Day abs, Tough tape 2 (which I have not even opened yet), Lower body sculpting (strength, all floor work). When I added the FIRM into my rotation, that's when I started to see the best results. One word of caution though, if you do decide to order firm videos, order them from Collage because the customer service at FIRM direct is known to be less than satisfactory. The web site says it takes 4-6 weeks. When I get them, I'll report back. Kerri __________________________________________________

What's Collage? I will never voluntarily leave TaeBo, but I am interested in new methods of toning. I guess I'm getting bored with my resistence routine. Thanks again! I'm particularly intersted in the fanny lift (I think that's what it's called). You haven't mentioned your toe in quite a while. I assume it has finally healed. Guest guest
> What's Collage? http://www.collagevideo.com is an online source for ordering exercise videos. I've only ordered from them once because with the exchange rate (and custom fees), I keep to a strict minimum orders from a US site, but they have excellent customer service. Another good online source for exercise videos is Amazon. I order most of my stuff now from CKSales, HMV or Chapters, which are all canadian websites.
