Guest guest
, I know that money is a touchy subject so just tell me no if you don't want to say.....but can you tell us how much it costs for that mattress? Margaret, Mom to the monsters and master quilter -- Tempur-Pedic Bed/Insurance Paid for It! I just wanted to make a separate post on this in case someone didn't see it in my other post. I had such a hard sleeping when I first got Fibro that I contacted the Tempur-Pedic company and found out their bed qualifies as a medical device (it is used in burn centers). I got my doctor to write a letter to my insurance company and get a tempur-pedic bed prequalified as a medical device. Then I bought the bed and the insurance company gave me a check for 70% of the cost. I had a pedestal bed (requires no bottom mattress) and I was able to get just the tempur-pedic mattress and not the bottom mattress (can't think of the correct phrase for bottom mattress right now). It is the same material used in the space program to reduce pressure. I sleep better and am less sore in the morning. I can't say it reduces all my pain, because when I don't sleep deeply enough I can wake up stiff. But it is much better quality over all. 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
---Oh yeah, I meant to say. I got the mattress itself, not the box spring. I had a platform (not pedestal) type bed and didn't need the box spring. You have to either use a platform frame or get their boxspring because of the way the mattressi is. I think my portion came to $600 and it was $1400 or something altogether for a queen mattress. Now that I have the queen, I wish I would have gotten the king because I like to spread out all over the bed. Their website is www.tempurpedic.com. They will send you materials and a video. If you want to get your insurance to pay for it, Tempur-Pedic can write a letter stating it is used in burn centers. Then get your insurance to pre-qualify it. Your insurance may pay more or less, you would have to check with them to find out at what rate they cover medical devices. I think I might even have the letter my doctor wrote on my computer somewhere (if I didn't delete it) so you can see what type of letter your doctor should write. wendy > , I know that money is a touchy subject so just tell me no if you don't > want to say.....but can you tell us how much it costs for that mattress? > > Margaret, > Mom to the monsters and master quilter > -- Tempur-Pedic Bed/Insurance Paid for > It! > > I just wanted to make a separate post on this in case someone didn't see it > in > my other post. Guest guest
Just curious - what type of insurance do you have? I was just looking at the Tempur-Pedic website last night. Even with 10mg ambien, I still have trouble sleeping. We are definitely buying some sort of mattress ASAP. I just want to make a wise choice. > ...thanks so much for the tip. I know we all appreciate it!!! Cam > Tempur-Pedic Bed/Insurance Paid for It! > > > I just wanted to make a separate post on this in case someone didn't see it in > my other post. Guest guest
I have United Healthcare. They cover medical devices at 70% and the bed qualified as a medical device. wendy > Just curious - what type of insurance do you have? I was just > looking at the Tempur-Pedic website last night.
