I went to high school with a guy named Andy.............

Fred,

That was a BEAUTIFUL tribute to an old friend, I truly

enjoyed reading it. (Well, except for the fact I am on duty, and the phone

rang while I was near the end of the story - do you know how hard it is to

choke back tears and answer the phone in a " normal " voice?)

Seriously though, thank you for such a wonderful story on

the human spirit.

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful person. My thanks to you for

sharing your memories of a terrific person with a marvelous sense of humor.

It only goes to prove that through adversity after adversity, the main thing

is to keep a positive attitude and NEVER let the " turkeys " get you down.

Thank you again for sharing what must have been an emotional post for you to

write.

When I read Weinraut's reply, I thought to myself " Yeah, Right "

then I went back and read the memorial

.... as I sit here wiping my own tears.

I only hope that during my life I have someone in my life like Andy,

he is obviously one of the chosen few.

This was a wonderful tribute to a fallen comrade and friend. We had done

the same for our Lt. who died of cancer last year. Folks, a lot of the

powers that be will not recognize us if don't put the effort in to honor our

fallen, so when you lose someone ask your commanders if they can be

commemorated somehow, if not

with a center being named after them, then at least a plaque in their

memory,

Our dpt has lost three members in the last year, two to cancer and one to an

mva. We have started a memorial garden with a pond and a staute, we are in

the process of funding a boulder, for lack of a better word, that will

have the name of all members of the dpt who have died while serving with the

department either chiseled into the rock or with a mounted plaque of some

type.

Take care of each other, cause we are all that we have got.

I did indeed read the entire thing and I dont think that I have ever read

something so moving and loving to a person. You are a good and true friend,

to carry on your friends memory in this way. Dont ever stop !!! My eyes

welled up with tears reading your tribute.
