Sure it is, and I did that for awhile myself :) But I find Atkins book very

helpful, not only because of the recipes he offers, but because of the

indepth discussion of the hows and whys and wherefores :), the supplements

that are helpful and what may not be, and tips about different foods that

you may think are low carb but arent.

Dear Bill,

I agree with you, Meenie, and others about diet. With more than one

physical problem it is difficult to stick to one person's diet.

Yesterday, I went to a health food store. The lady told me she didn't

have one thing in that store I could use because of my mechanical heart

and diabetes. That was very difficult to believe.

I picked up a couple of things and asked her about them and all

of them she said I couldn't use because of my heart.

Wow!! A health food store can't even help me!

I'm glad I started this list.

I have also run into the same problems with diet. I have read many of them

but each one is not good for all my medical problems. I have tried to take a

little from each and finally have given up and last week went back to my

original exchange type of diet that is somewhat modified. When you have 4

different diseases all working again each other it is hard to eat a standard

diet.

Yes, I also have to stay away from many of the natural products as they

either cause problems with my heart or the medications that I am taking for

the conditions that I have.

I am also glad that you started this list.

She may have said that because she was afraid if you used her stuff and had

a heart problem, you would blame her :)

How long have you had a mechanical heart? I didn't even know they were in

use :) Does it work well?
