Guest guest
Hi everyone. In the last few days I have seen so many of you going through what I have been going through for so long. A lot of us have low self esteem, do not like the way we look, and seem to get down even further really easily. Just a thought - what if we all pledge for one week that we won't say anything negative about ourself. We will look in the mirror and, even if it kills us, we will tell ourselves that we are beautiful and wondeful and special??? It will kind of be like when we do the 21 day challenge with Taebo - we have to do this every day for a week. I don't know if it will help us, but it can't hurt! What do you all think???? Hugs to everyone! Sherry :> __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Janick: I know we all feel that way - especially right now! But you know what? No one can help us but ourselves. We can guide one another, we can hold each other's hands and be there for each other - but only You can help you and only I can help myself. Does that make any sense?? How are we ever going to pull out of this rut if we don't just do it???? Sending an extra big squeeze... Sherry !!! :> --- janickcm wrote: > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
That's a great idea Colleen! I know I have to try to be more positive with myself. I am always upbeat around my friends but I need to be that way with myself now! Thanks!!!!! Sherry :> --- Colleen Meacham wrote: > Sherry, > > That sounds like a great plan. It's a good thing I said nice things about myself today! :) I have issues....I don't always like what I see, but I'm always looking in the mirror. It's some type of twisted vanity. Anyway, I walked around today with my head held high and shoulders back. I felt good, and I LOOKED good today. Each time I went to the ladies room today, I looked at my reflection in the mirror and gave myself a BIG smile and a thumbs up sign! Guest guest
Ohhh I know about those breakouts! I am allergic to wheat and it occurs in the form of a rash and break outs on my face. Plus my face is so sensitive, almost anything makes it break out at first!! I just read an article in Fitness RX (a great new mag by the way), that recommended using a product with Salicylic acid and retinol on your face. I'm trying out a product by Neutrogena and just in two days, my face feels better!!! And I actually am starting to have a more even complexion!!! Maybe this will help some of you guys also. Colleen Re: Re: a pledge for all of us :> MICHELLE: Hi! My face breaks out around PMS time! I think it is wierd to be 34 and have pimples!!!!! :> But hey, we will always look younger, right??? :> I bet you look a lot better than you give yourself credit for! We are harder on ourselves, you know?! I get those on my shoulders and back too - I think because I have such long hair. My husband teases me all the time!!!! :> Sherry
Guest guest
Janick, I've also heard that as you exercise, you also increase your testosterone levels and that may cause an increase in breakouts, especially if you are first starting an exercise program. Do you know if there is validity to this? I do know if you take a good look at bodybuilders who do use steroids, they usually have telltale acne breakouts heavily on the shoulder and back area. Also some tips my doctors gave me: wash with a very mild soap, I use one called Purpose, it's a very basic face soap. Then he prescribed a topical solution called Cleocin T (it has a % after the name but I can't remember what it is) and now I've been adding the Neutrogena lotion twice daily that has salicylic acid and retin A for acne/wrinkles. Another thing I do, which is not the healthiest (I know I know) is that I go to a tanning bed about twice a week and it really helps clear my face up. Colleen Re: a pledge for all of us :> > MICHELLE: Hi! My face breaks out around PMS time! I > think it is wierd to be 34 and have pimples!!!!! :> You know of course that adult females that have acne secrete an excess of androgen (a virilizing hormone), which is also associated with excessive hair growth?? If you are like me, you have excessive facial hairs as well. Believe it or not I have to " shave " my facial hairs every 3 days, because it was becoming too much of a mess to wax it off. He told me to only use soap and water to cleanse my skin. That's it; very simple. I use Ivory or any other mild UNSCENTED soap during the winter. During the summer, I use and 's Baby Bar. I'm sure all the moms know about this product! :) I also use a Neutrogena Sensitive skin moisturizer or some other less expensive brand. I NEVER use astringents or facial masks because they cause massive breakouts and irritaiton. Drinking lots of water helps too. I've been taking birthcontrol pills since I was 16 (used to treat my migraines). I switched to ortho-tricyclen 2 or 3 years ago. It is wonderful for the complexion! I still get an occassional blemish though when taking the last row of placebo pills.
