*****ACTION ALERT***** Senate Finance

to VOTE on Cuts to Services to Texans with Disabilities! TAKE ACTION NOW!

*****ACTION ALERT*****

The Senate Finance Subcommittee on Medicaid will finalize its

budget decisions on Home & Community Based Programs by Friday (March

18th). Call NOW!

IF YOU, A FAMILY MEMBER, OR FRIEND HAVE A DISABILITY AND RECEIVE

ANY TYPE OF COMMUNITY BASED SUPPORTS OR SERVICES, YOU MUST CALL OR RISK

HAVING THEM CUT!

Contact as many of the members of the Senate Finance Committee

listed below, and say

" I am or a family member is currently receiving community based

services instead of receiving them in an institution. I urge you to

oppose budget cuts proposed in SB1 for Health and Human Services and to do

what it takes to maintain current service levels for community based

services and supports for Texans with disabilities!

To the aging and disability community these services are necessary to

promote " aging in place " , community inclusion, improved quality

of life, higher productivity, better health and wellness, fewer visits to

emergency rooms and hospitals, and the ability to live as independently as

possible. Cuts to community based services will only lead to

unnecessary institutionalization, increasing the overall cost to Texas in

the long-term.

(Add your personal story and the services you receive. Let them know

how they have helped you and what will happen to you or your family if they

are taken away.)

I want you to support community based services, a more cost effective way

to balancing the state budget. Texas needs to preserve vital programs for

Texans with disabilities and their families, use the Rainy Day Fund, and

seek out new revenue " ! Please give Texans with disabilities and

their families the cost effective tools they need to live independently in

the community of their choice! "

Call these seven Senators on the subcommittee on Medicaid as soon as possible:

Sen. Judith Zaffirini

Sen. Hinojosa

Sen. Whitmire

Sen. Jane

Sen. Tommy

Sen. Bob

Deuell

Sen.

Eltife
