It may have a few private showings in America but that wouldn't help

You are mistaken. The studio is still seeking a distributor. The

film is showing at an International Film Festival in Puerto Vallara

next saturday.

Jerry, the slander is only perceived by you. I'm pretty sure most here would

agree when I say we're eager to see this movie if/when/whenever/whatever it

makes it to the cinemas or not.

I don't care how or where I get to see it, as long as I get to see it, in

Now, as far as somebody thinking the movie was filmed ten years

ago, I did once say that I have been involved with this project for

ten years but it is quite a leap to think the movie was made back

then.

However, having just wasted two hours waiting for a flu shot that

never happened, I realize there are worse things than treehouse

misunderstandings!! It helped me calm down and tackle this thread

rationally

The " project " began almost ten years ago this week when my wife

and I sold a 90 day option on our life story to producer,

Lawrence. He came back and bought another 90 days in early 1996. By

June, we signed a contract with Dreamworks. Originally, Robin

and Tea Leone were to be the male and female leads.

In 1997, Ron Bass wrote the first draft of the script. Between

then and 2000, there were lots of close calls; times when we had some

but not all of what you need to get to filming. You need a studio and

script which we had but you also need a director, male and female

lead. We had 3/5 and 4/5 sometimes but never all five.

Meanwhile, Spielberg, who wanted to direct it, decided he would

never find time to do it. He put the project in " turnaround " , meaning

another studio could take it over. Isreali expatriate, Avi Lerner, an

independent film producer and head of Millennium Films, took it over.

In 2003, Josh Hartnett read the script. He had a longtime friend

with an autistic cousin and became very interested, to the point of

finding a director and other needed people. Finally, in January 2004,

Radha , fresh from Woody 's " Melinda and Melinda "

accepted the female lead role and with Norwegian director, Petter

Naess, the filming was scheduled to begin in March.

The rest of the cast was set in late January and early February.

The last week of February was devoted to rehearsals at the Spokane,

Wa. location. Fliming began March first and lasted about seven weeks.

So the project, still in progress, is ten years old but the film

is only a year and seven months old.

Actually, I'd be perfectly glad to buy a copy as soon as it's

released. It's the same attitude I have toward Japanese anime: I'll

download fan translations while the series is still in licensing

limbo, but once it actually gets an American distributor, I'll rent or

buy the official DVDs.

Too bad the movie didn't get to go then. Robin would

have been great as you, with Spielberg directing. Not sure that

Tea Leone would have been a good choice to play your wife, but

she's a great actress.

Agreed. It was an honest mistake.

That is fact but your assertion that the movie was made ten years

ago is a mistake. There have been no takers yet, at least none that

meet the terms the studio wants.

However, keep in mind that ten years is NOT unreasonable time

for the full process from initial idea to theater to happen. It

took " Rain Man " almost seven years and " Forrest Gump " ten years. My

brother, Newport (check his resume at IMDB) has been a writer

and art director for three decades and agrees with me.

Might I also remind you that it is not your movie

sense although and I get a pct. of the profits (as if they will

not some God " , but just didn't know, which is something that a

smart-assed know-it-all aspie like you could never admit. It's

a common trait among many (usually male) aspies, although it

seems particularly pronounced in you. I wonder if you're like

That all you got? Heh. I've never denied that I tend to be that

way myself, I've seen it in myself and others, but I " got over

myself " a long time ago.

Yes, through most of my life, I rarely encountered people that I

considered truly intelligent, except for a few college profs that

I had, but mostly that was because I was in a working class milieu,

and I was mostly correct, although wisdom can be found in entirely

uneducated people.

I was disabused of such notions, however, as soon as I got on the

internet, and learned there were Many people who knew far more than

I, even though they were Dx'd as straight autistic, and not Aspie.

They had known about it longer, had listened and learned from others,

just as You should do, instead of spouting off and trying to sound

like the world's foremost expert on every freakin' thing.

Again, I quote from " Desiderata " , " If you compare yourself with

others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be

greater and lesser persons than yourself. "

Take it to heart, Red, you could improve your personal life, as

well as your participation here. Don't be so " full of yourself " .
