What is the single most significant characteristic which differentiates Multifocal Atrial Tachycardia from Atrial Fibrillation ? No fair looking it up ... OK, I take a stab at it because I've never heard MAT differentiated from atrial tach - and definitely never seen it (Converted an SVT with 6mg of Adenosine last night though, but his rythym was exceedingly regular). Both would be irregularly irregular because the multiple foci of the MAT would produce different Q-Q intervals. Atrial Fibrillation - No organized atrial activity, so no p waves. MAT - If it is slow enough to differentiate p waves, you should see a p wave from the atrial depolorization before every QRS. Also, looking it up didn't help me - I couldn't find MAT mentioned in any of my paramedic or ACLS texts.
