Guest guest
I agree, and it is listed as a related service in IDEA. so yes. along with the goals and objectives, and time. if the child is working on specifc issues in the sessions how will anyone ever track the progress on the issues if nothing is documented. and then the great big word (ACCOUNTABILITY)no one can be held accountable for anything that is NOT in writting. > > i think I know the answer but does counseling services need to be put in the iep? the teacher says no cause its a service for all kids not just sped kids. i say yes it needs to be in there specifically because he is sped! > > Sent from my iPhone >

Guest guest
Yes, you have to have a different license and different training. Sometimes it is a behavior specialist or even a BCBA Thanks,AdinaSent from my iPhone is that different than what they provide for NT kids? Guest guest
Listen to Adina. The one thing you need to keep in mind at all times is that if it isn't written into the IEP, then legally they don't have to do it. Counseling is available to all kids via a counseling office; however, it would be the kids who would say I need to talk to a counselor. Your kid is not going to do that. You have to spell it out in the IEP that you want special ed counseling, which Adina defined. Then you need to be specific as to what you want that counseling to provide, how often, etc....Never trust when they just give you a verbal agreement. You have to make them WRITE it in the IEP. You can't go back and argue about an accommodation or service or support unless it is WRITTEN into the document. Haven
