Guest guest
Have you seen a doctor about hormone replacement therapy to get you through the transition? Marti Ouch!!!! Alright, I know, I haven't posted in years and years... *dusts the cobwebs off keyboard*. I never send flowers anymore, and I only write when I need something. I am grateful right now that I am in Wyoming, because it is so cool here. I know I could never take the heat in Dallas, on top of everything. I have finally reached Menopause, or I guess it is rightfully called Peri-menopause, and I feel like I have never been on thyroid meds! Can this be so? It has been 102 days since my last cycle (yes, I keep count) and for the last 2 months, I have been suffering. I am retaining fluid, especially in the hands and feet, and all my joints ache really bad, all the time. And yes, hot flashes. But no night sweats, thank goodness. A while back I switched from Naturethroid to compounded dessicated. When the doc wrote the Rx, she wrote it for 3 grains... so, I had one pill. Took it all at one time, really no problem, but next time I had her split it. Well, I seem to forget my second pill a lot, or not take it at the same time, so maybe that is my problem. Maybe I should just take both my pills in the a.m. at the same time, see if my aching joints and swelling go down some? Any thoughts? Cathryn M.I.A. but always thinking of you! Guest guest
I'm getting my my pills from Abrams Royal Pharmacy. I still only come out here for the summers, too cold to stay here in the winter. My problems just started recently, with my changes in cycles, and also with my forgetting my second pill some. Oh, and yes, I am losing my hair like crazy again. I have been using a family doctor in Dallas that has worked out ok for me. She doesn't like the suppressed TSH, but will put up with it because I always point out that my T3 and T4 are within range. And she never has problems with prescribing whichever thyroid meds I want. So far I have gone from Armour, to Naturethroid, to compounded; however, I have never had to have a dosing adjustment made. I do not know how she would be as far as dosing goes for someone just starting out with thyroid symptoms. > > > Have you found a good doc in Wyoming? > > Not remembering to take your 2nd pill might be your problem. > > Is there any cellulose in your compounded med? Guest guest
I am back on ERFA now, but I have had good luck with hormones and thyroid compounded by Womens International Pharmacy in Madison WI. They use only oil as a filler. The default is olive oil, but they also have safflower oil and vitamin E oil. Thyroid hormone is fat soluble, so the oil aids in absorption. Unless you are skipping a lot of pills, I think your prolem may be the compound filler. > >> > > > Have you found a good doc in Wyoming?> > > > Not remembering to take your 2nd pill might be your problem.> > > > Is there any cellulose in your compounded med? Guest guest
I have a question about Abrams Royal Compounded thyroid meds...It is my first time on thyroid meds and I didn't know better but my Doc wrote the script for time released and that is what I go. You mentioned most do not prefer time released due to a filler, does that effect the potency or efficiency? The reason I ask is that I don't feel any better or have not had symptom relief after 7 day on it. Thoughts? - > > > > > > Have you found a good doc in Wyoming? > > > > Not remembering to take your 2nd pill might be your problem. > > > > Is there any cellulose in your compounded med?
