Have you had a chest x-ray to rule out a persistent pnuemonia which may be part of the myeloma? What is the possibility that the myeloma is effecting your lungs ability to exchange oxygen & wastes in the capillaries? I know the myeloma has to do with plasma cells

Im assuming the blue tube you are referring to is a ventolin inhaler? If conventional asthma meds are not having any kind of effect on this issue, you might persue looking into Vocal Cord Dysfunction, which looks and acts ALOT like asthma but does not respond to asthma treatments. Madeline is a member of the group who has a wealth of knowledge about VCD. Many doctors misdiagnose it as asthma.

Asthma

I have had trouble with asthma for a full year now. It started after a cold and since then I always feel a restriction in my throat (or an elephant on my ribcape). I walk about 100 steps and then I have to stop, huffing and puffing for about 5 minutes until my breath is even. The blue tube does not work on me (I actually do not have any typical asthma attacks). There is no wheezing, just the restriction when I want to breathe. I have tried Advair and Alvesco but I do not feel any relief.

Apart from that, I have multiple myeloma and am very weak.

Would anybody have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

I have been diagnosed with VCD along with the asthma.  The lung functions confirm asthma but my

symptoms are more than the test results reflect.  I still have shortness of breath, and hoarseness.  It is definitely better when I use the

nebulizer every six hours but it is too exhausting to get up in the middle of

the night and use the nebulizer.  I am

scheduled to see an ENT Friday the 14th and he is to be the best in

this area.  So I’ll see then.  If anyone has any input about VCD I would

like to hear about it.

Many thanks!

That would be Madeline for info on the VCD. I will have to kick her butt if she doesn't get back on here soon. I will call her tonight. Cheryl Burton ncicheryl@... To: asthma Sent: Mon, May 10, 2010 7:19:57 PMSubject: RE: Asthma
