Guest guest
I'm getting very close to delivering my baby and was wondering if anyone has any insight as to what happens to thyroid levels after delivery? I have had a complete thyroidectomy so rely solely on replacement dosages. We've increased the dosage a bit during the course of my pregnancy but before that I was on a stable dosage for a number of years. I'm going to try and breastfeed and think that thyroid levels can affect milk supply (of course why wouldn't it? thyroid affects everything!) Should I be looking to stay at the elevated dosage while I'm breast feeding? Any idea as to how often my thyroid levels should be checked post pregnancy? They are being checked monthly during the pregnancy. In all of my thyroid research, I've never come across anything that discusses after pregnancy care so was hoping for any guidance on what I should expect.
