Teen Challenge Event - Participant Application Participants ages 12-17 are invited to take part in a variety of games and activities designed to explore how a group works together to achieve a common goal and gain understanding of how to solve problems working as team. Participants will experience recreation activities in a fun, structured and supported environment while practicing the social and communication skills needed to effectively participate in a socially based recreation activity. Each group is limited to a maximum of 18 participants to provide a top-quality learning experience. Participants will work in smaller groups of approximately 6 students each with a minimum of 2 staff supporting each group. Groups are led by an instructor from Spectrum Social and Recreation Services and supported by UTAP student volunteers. Session One: 9am – 11am is designed for students who are able to use language expressively and receptively to benefit from instruction using a cognitive behavioral model. Session Two: 1pm – 3pm is designed for students who have more limited expressive and/or receptive language abilities and may need more visual and hands-on support in achieving learning goals.
