Protestors at Capitol ticketed

By | Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 11:17 PM

About 40 people remained in front of the governor’s office at the Capitol tonight in protest of the proposed budget cuts to programs for Texans with disabilities.

They were not arrested after hours — the Capitol closes at 10 — but some were ticketed, according to a protester who was there.

It was not clear how many people were ticketed nor what the tickets were issued for.

A couple hundred advocates were at the Capitol Tuesday afternoon protesting the cuts. According to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, at least 23 programs across five different state departments will see budget reductions that will affect those with special needs.
