Guest guest
Cyn, have you heard of Zyprexa? It's a drug my doc gives me samples of since it has no generic and is expensive, even with my insurance. It has helped me quite a bit on my depression and patience. As far as the severe spasms, sounds like a seizure. But you say you were coherent the whole time? Wow, I don't know. Maybe a severe side effect of a med you're taking? Kris Was it a convulsion? I haven't been active on any of the lists lately. I went through a period of severe depression and psychosis recently, (I'm BiPolar with Severe Depressive disorder as well as paranoia and psychosis), and just haven't had the strength or will to get online. A few nights ago I fell down in the hallway, and my left side just started twitching...I couldn't stand up for a while, as I had no control over my body for about 5 minutes. This really scared me. Has anyone else experienced this? Many times (especially when in bed or curled up on the couch) I'll notice mile twitching in my limbs. Most of the time it's just an arm or leg, and it's not severe, but it's enough that it's annoying. Is this a part of fibro? I also have dystonia, but I don't think it's from that. TIA, cyn
Guest guest
Just responding to the section on the " twitches " or " spasms " . I have fibromyalgia. I also have what's called psychogenic seizures... these are seizures which are exactly like what you are describing, and yes I'm awake and alert the entire time they are occuring. Psychogenic seizures is a stress related condition and the majority of people who have it also have fibromyalgia, although no formal link has yet been found. Unfortunately, there is no drug they can give you to get rid of the seizures. Most of my treatment for them has consisted of doing breathing lessons. Try and be aware of what you were doing right before they happen, sometimes there will be a warning such as a change of sight, smell, a vein throbbing. If you notice any of those just sit down and try and relax as much as possible (yes, I know it's hard when the seizure is freaking you out :-) ) While the seizure is going on, I do breathing exercises (almost like lamaze breathing) and it seems to calm down my body enough so the seizure will subside. I can't be positive you have the same thing I do, but it might be worth checking with your doctor. Jenni e Sheehan wrote:Cyn, have you heard of Zyprexa? While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
I guess I just need to get used to it, lol! It's not nearly as annoying as waking up with my back as stiff as a board and not being able to move until I get some painkillers and clonapin in me. I can actually feel the clonapin go to work, relaxing the muscles, and the pain-killers take away the screaming pain. I do have to admit, though, the worst pain I've ever experienced (outside of childbirth) was when I got food-poisoning from eating a bad batch of cole slaw from KFC. To this day, I can't eat KFC, which is a shame because I love their chicken. But that food poisoning had me screaming for hours, and when I went to the ER I screamed and begged for someone to kill me. I guess I was disturbing the other patients, because they finally rushed me to the back and hooked me up to an IV with a healthy dose of Dilaudid in it. When they decided it was time to send me home, the nurse felt I looked bad enough to have another dose of Dilaudid. They'd already taken out the IV, so the nurseshe just found a vein and injected it right into the vein. They wheeled me out to the car in a wheel chair, as I was too weak (and probably wasted as well!) to walk. The effects lasted several days, and when I saw my pdoc the next day he wrote me a prescription for Vicodin. He said he normally didn't write RX for narcotics, but he could see I really needed something to help me get through the next couple of days. I think I lost 10 lbs in that week....the only thing I ate was yogurt & ginger ale. I just laid on the couch and watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, lol! ((((hugs)))) cyn At 10:51 PM 7/10/2004 -0400, poetrybycarmen@... wrote: >yep,me too,hon....i twitch all the time...i can sit and watch the muscles >moving around,it is scary...i figure it is another Fibro thingy...(((Hugs))) >carmen cyn clmerritt@...
