Compounding pharmacy advice needed

For over a year, I've used a local compounding pharmacy to fill my SR-T3,

Progesterone in olive oil, and bio-identical estrogen cream. I've never had a

problem with them until recently.

I decided on the last refill of progesterone (with olive oil) to request one

capsule of 200mg to replace the 2 caps of 100mg I've been taking. I just

realized how much money I could save by not having 100's filled, and asked my

doctor to rewrite the prescription for the pharmacy to 1 cap of 200mg instead of

2 caps of 100mg.

Anyway, that was about a month ago. Since filling the new prescription, all my

old symptoms came back. I even took 2 caps, thinking maybe the pharmacy just

filled the old script of 100s. Nothing helped. I found a few of my old 100's,

and for the last couple of nights, took them, and felt 1000 percent better.

I called the pharmacy, and there is nothing they can do. My husband is a

pharmacist, and I had him stop by to talk to them, and they just say they have

quality controls set in place, and it is just not possible that there is

anything wrong with the capsules.

I won't name them, but wondered if any of you have ever encountered a problem

with a compounding pharmacy. It is almost like I have olive oil capsules instead

of progesterone.

Is this my cue to try WIP, or someplace else? I have about 60 more capsules that

I don't feel like will help me.

Any suggestions? I don't think it is an issue for the doctor's office, at least

yet, but I guess I could request a new prescription to have filled somewhere

else?

Hoping some of you may have some ideas on what to do next.

Thank you!

Name names! That's what this group is for.

I got subpotent hormones from Family Drug.

Since that time, all of my hormone and thyroid prescriptions are from Womens International Pharmacy in Madison WI. (They do not make timed release meds.)

If you do not need the timed release, their T3 in olive oil is excellent.

Their capsules are tiny and will only hold about 100 mg of progesterone. At the time that I switched, the price at WIP was about 60% of what I was paying at AFD.

Abrams Royal.

I'm thinking of opening the capsules, mixing the oil with apple cider vinegar

and at least getting a salad dressing out of the capsules. (winking sadly).

I've sort of wondered about the Timed Release T3 to be honest. Sometimes I don't

think it is exactly right, but when I started treatement, the Timed release was

so much easier on my stressed out body. Using it, plus the progesterone, seemed

to be what my body needed to get off b/p meds and beta blockers. I'm wondering

if Dr. S would let me at least try T3 in a different form to see if I could

handle it better now that I'm so much farther down the road.

This experience with the progesterone was very discouraging.

If I could save that much with Women's International, that would be most

helpful! Maybe they will actually put Progesterone in the capsules!

Thank you so much for your reply.
