As a matter of fact, my diabetes edcator taught me to squeeze when getting drop for test strip. And the only reason I've been able to test as much as I do is by using the lightest setting (1) on my lancet device. Vicki
Guest guest
I would also like to know why you shouldn't squeeze to get a drop of blood? Guest guest
If you squeeze it increases the BG in the drop. You need to prick and then lower your arm below your heart. I drop my hand to the side and wait a few seconds. It will eventually come out. Also, are you using one of those prick things? If you are, make sure it is on 3-31/2 or the blood will not come to the surface. Next, instead of squeezing, massage your finger gently from the base of your finger to the top. That will help the blood come to the surface also. (sort of knead it or stroke it) I hope this helps. It worked for me. I used to have horrors with pricking but now it works every time. Guest guest
Wow, lucky you. My diabetic nurse told me to use 3-31/2. Three does not even work for me but 31/2 does it every time. Guest guest
I really don't know but that is what my diabetic nurse told me. She said never squeeze. If I remember correctly, she said that the squeeze brings the Glucose to the surface. Not sure about this though. Guest guest
The best advice I ever got was from a nurse at my doctor's office. She was taking my blood and I mentioned how hard it was to get blood out of my fingers, sometimes pricking myself up to 5 times to get enough blood for the test strip. She said if I ran warm water on my finger before I did the finger stick, it could help the blood flow more freely. Well, it worked. Since I have been doing the warm water trick I have had no problems getting a drop of blood. God's Speed, ***Robin***

Guest guest
Yes, Susie, I take asprin daily. I do not squeeze anymore. I also use the Accucheck Simplicity which needs a glob of blood. Boy, Susie, it is good to have you back! OtterCritter wrote: > > > > Heller writes: > > << Wow, lucky you. My diabetic nurse told me to use 3-31/2.
