Guest guest
I am looking for some input for a patient - she is 30 years old; 66 " , 190# and works nights in our admitting dept. She is participating in an 8 week wt loss program that I am teaching, so I do have regular contact with her. She is very frustrated with her inability to lose wt - has had some success with diets in the past, but is aware of the need for lifestyle change. We establish calorie goals for our class participants, then help teach them how to make better choices. She has been keeping daily food logs which look great -her intake is well-rounded, w/in her calorie goals and she is physically active. When we first met a few weeks ago, she was only doing 30 minutes of aerobic activity ~5 days per week. I've since had her increase this to at least 60 minutes 5 days and add in strength training a few days a week, but still no results. Wt continues to fluctuate 189-191. I am starting to run out of ideas on what to help her with - my question is does anyone know of any info on how working nights may affect your metabolism? Or any other suggestions? Thanks, Ellis-Wood, RD, CDN Alice Hyde Medical Center 133 Park Street Malone, NY 12953 ext. 603 kellis@...
