I am taking dessicated thyroid now after 12 years of the synthetic drug, Synthroid. I continued to have hypo symptoms all those years especially low energy and weight gain. With Synthroid, it is assumed that your body will convert the T4 to T3. In my case that was not happening. Dessicated thyroid provides the body with both T4 and T3 as well as T1 and T2. Now I have more energy, and have lost ten pounds in 2 weeks. Both of my parents are hypo as well and have had their prescriptions changed to dessicated thyroid. My mother and I are also taking iodine, selenium, magnesium, eating Real salt, and a multivitamin a day. Thank you for the recommendation! I ordered it off Amazon.

These books will really help you understand the disorder and what to do about it. Also, how to understand the testing and numbers. Good luck to you. I am hypo and my daughter has graves/hyperthyroidism. The books helped both of us immensely.

Could someone help me by looking at my history below and giving me their perspective? My counts are currently "normal". If I do have Hashi's, I've read that it should be treated with desiccated thyroid. Any suggestions/experience with that?
