The blood levels of B12 aren't always indicative of whether a person is really getting adequate B12 - just as with the thyroid, you can have what seems to be a reasonable amount circulating, but your body doesn't have the enzymes to actually convert to something useful. He takes 5000 mcg methyl b12 daily. I'm pretty sure that his numbers are high because of that. Did they measure his folate? Nope. > It's really hard to say anything about his thyroid with a TSH only. You really need the Frees and antibodies. I know. I told him that when the labs were ordered, but he didn't want to rock the boat. ;( The latter as you know is important because it means the TSH value is even more useless. > > One thought I have for you because it's something that's been on my mind since you all had flooding in your home. I know you all moved out for a while and it was remediated, but I still worry about potential mold exposure for you all. The idea that bleach can " kill " mold is a misconception - it doesn't inhibit growth. Also, any permeable objects that were in the home when there was any mold at all can absorb toxins. I will need to think about this. I do believe that all of us were having issues before we had the flooding. They were able to get into the house right away, and start the remediation process. I'm not sure of everything that they used to *clean* the studs, but I do know that they used a more *natural* product. We were most certainly charged for it. LOL I have never had the ducts cleaned out and I really think that we should do that. Other than the studs, anything that got wet is now out of the house. We had dryers in the house for days and days to ensure that the house was dry. I'm not sure what dry means, though, ya know? I will mention the mold to Dr. S and see what he thinks. My husband and daughter share a brain, so to speak. They both seem to have the same issues with their brains. We've had testing done for my daughter and she has working memory issues, a reading disorder, and a diagnosis of ADHD-inattentive. I don't know about the memory or reading, but I'm wondering if the ADHD could also be related to the mold. She has always been like this, though... Hmmm. Thank you, , for bringing this up. I will speak to Dr. S about it and see what he says. It will take us a while to save up the $ to have my daughter and my husband see them. Our labs are covered by insurance, but I haven't managed to get the office receipts in to the insurance company to see if they will pay. They have not been doing a very good job paying for labs lately, either. The doc that treated my family after our house was water damaged says that *all* his patients have thyroid problems. One reason is that some of the same genes that predispose one to autoimmune thyroid disease are those that predispose one to get made ill from mold exposure (and those are the same genes that predispose one to celiac disease). So, some of us have all these problems. This statement really made me stop and think about this again instead of dismissing it. I think that this may be an avenue worth looking into. We are in this house for the long haul, since no one will purchase it, due to the flooding. <sigh> Susie
