Yes, I assume this is going to be the pharmas defense when some of these cases go to trial -- "our drug is perfectly okay, it's your bad genes that caused your problems." LOL He was quite offended at my letter, but I was so damn mad I could've spit nails. In fact, here's the letter I wrote. Could I have sounded MORE pissed off?? LOL

"The feeling can be really abrupt, like a quick jerk of the muscle," said

Dr. C. Shelton, a professor of psychiatry at Vanderbilt University.

"It's not painful, but it can be very frightening to people."

Dear Dr. Shelton:

Until and unless you have experienced the ghastly Hieronymous Bosch tableau of hell withdrawals from Paxil, and have personally experienced the "zaps," you have no damn business expressing an opinon about this phenomenon. Not painful? Do you think putting a 220V live wire to your temple and turning on the juice wouldn't be painful? Don't they anesthesize people having ECT? You've got to be kidding me with this statement. Just proves once again that you don't know what you're talking about and no doubt GSK is lining your pockets to parrot their bogus research and propaganda about this drug. Your other statements about withdrawal being mild and lasting only a few days to a few weeks is total CRAP! I know hundreds of people for whom the withdrawal from this hell in a pill lasted onwards of 6, 8, 10 months, and that's if they're lucky, and there are plenty of us for whom the withdrawals continued for two years or longer. And they are anything but MILD! No drug that produces the horrific side effects that Paxil does could be about curing anything. It's more like some ghastly mind control experiment right out of Auschwitz or Dachau! If you think this drug is so wonderful why don't YOU take it and then report back to me? I guarantee you that you'll be singing a different tune. How much does GSK pay you to spew this vomit to the press????
