JOIN US MARCH 24 FOR CHILD PROTECTION DAY

Thursday, March 24, 2011Texas State CapitolRally on the south steps, 12:30 p.m.Two Advocate Briefings, 9:30 and 11 a.m.(Room 3N.4, 3rd Floor of the Capitol)

Texas is grappling with a severe revenue crisis. The proposed budget bills make cuts to virtually every aspect of Child Protective Services and potentially leave thousands of children in harm's way. We need your voice now more than ever! Join CPPP, TexProtects, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards, Texas CASA, Texans Care for Children, the Child Protection Roundtable, Texas Family Association, and other organizations to advocate for Texas children.Ask lawmakers to restore relative caregiver subsidies and adoption subsidies that help children achieve permanency, restore prevention programs that keep children out of the system and cuts to foster care reimbursement rates, and restore all CPS workers who work directly with children and families. Please bring your co-workers, friends, children, as well as an umbrella to the rally at the Capitol at 12:30 p.m. to oppose these budget cuts and advocate for the full use of the Rainy Day Fund. The Child Protection roundtable is hosting a webinar in advance that will provide critical information on budget cuts to important child protection areas as well as tips on how to advocate effectively. The next webinar will be on March 22 at 11 a.m. You can register at http://www.texprotects.org/webinar03-22. The roundtable is also holding special briefings for advocates starting at 9:30 a.m. March 24 in room 3N.4 (3rd floor of the Capitol). These will be similar to the webinars and will prepare advocates for their meetings with legislators and staffers. For more information, visit www.texprotects.org/ChildProtectionDay2011.
