Guest guest
Hi Aimee, Thanks for the helpful response. The only way I will see her is if she pays up front for all 4, so she is bringing that with her when we meet. As far as the phases, how do I find out the protocol of which phase and when to move to another. Also, is this your own test on the 2nd visit, or is it one I can access? This will be my first pre and post op client because I've only handled the pre ops up until now, and I don't want to look like I don't know what I'm doing! Are there parameters to follow for protein and fluids, and when is the point when I help her progress to regular diet? Sorry, I am bombarding you with questions. :-)) Happy, healthy New Year! Pressly, RD The NON-DIET dietitian Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania Internet and telecounseling for distance clients Re: Pre and post gastric bypass Iwould highly recommend that you have them pay for all 4 visits up front as it tends to encourage them to follow up. We require 2 visits pre op-> 1 visit to see what habits they have that could affect their success and the other to review the diet/supplements/vit/mineral needs post operativesly. We then have a " test " that we give to review their understanding. The post op we see what stage they are at and how well they are meeting their fluid/pro needs as well as vits/min. We find unless they are taking a clear liquid supplement during the clear liquid phase they will not meet their pro needs. We use Bariatrix- we are distributors but we have a RD in PA that we can also refer you to if you need a clear liquid (drink, broths and gelatins- also contain arginine for healing). We find that people will try to advance to regular diet too quickly and monitor that closely- I find the quicker they progress the more problems they have long term with weight gain. hope this helps. peace- aimee bariatrixrd@... optimalnutritionrd.com ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
