Guest guest
If your son doesn’t have a specific BIP or IEP that addresses these behaviors, then he is subject to the same classroom discipline as ever other child in the class. The ’s law newsletter just dealt with thishttp://www.wrightslaw.com/info/bip.ciolfi.reichhardt.htm My son is/has faced very similar issues at his school, so I’m right there with you. Sometimes it’s that the teacher hasn’t been trained with proper techniques, sometimes it’s that the teacher doesn’t want to be bothered, and sometimes it’s that the teacher is overwhelmed. You need to WRITE a letter to the principal TODAY, explaining that you have concerns that the teacher’s mismanagement of your son’s behavior in the classroom is interfering with his education and that you wish to call an emergency ARD to review the behavior intervention plan. If you wanted to go one step further, you could write the letter so that it was your request for a Functional Behavioral Assessment to address this issue. You also need to call the special ed chair and ask her what kind of training and support the teacher is receiving. But if the teacher is calling, and your son is acting out in class, chances are very good it’s hard on everyone in the class. . . . . so you need to make sure the school gets another plan in place. This has been the story of my life the last 6 months. Good luck, and if you want to e-mail me privately, please feel free. S. Can they really take grades away?My son is ahead of his class, and sudently she just took 40 points away from 2 subjects.. almost failing cause of behavior..NOTE.... she said she did cause of the behavior was taking time away " to ns do work " So I got 8 both sides pages homework that we did fine at home cause he didint do nothing at school?i don't get it...
