Weaning off HC and sickness

Val my daughter is weaning off HC and is now down to 10 mg a day.

Everytime she trys to get to 5 mg a day, she starts getting a sore

throat and feels like a cold is coming on. She stress doses for a few

days and does better. Then she waits a week and trys the weaning

process again, and once again feels like a cold coming on. This has

happened three times already.

Could it be that it is not, in fact, a cold, but adrenal stress? Or

could it be that she just needs to take 10 mg for a while longer? Is

it okay to take low doses of HC for a long period? I thought I read

once where that was not recommended as it would suppress the adrenals

enough to not make any cortisol, but you wouldn't be receiving emough

to heal?

Can you help me understand this....and give me your opinion of what is

going on with the colds?

It does sound as if she is not ready to wean off but I see no point in

going higher than she needs. Sounds liek she has had SOME adrenal heling

but they are not back 100% yet so I woul dhave her give it more time on

the 10MG. There is NO reason to go higher if that is enough to keep her

temps level. Usually that would not be recommended as it is usually not

enough but in her case this is where she seems to feel good, so it is.

High or low cortisol can cause the immune system to not function

properly.
