I am hearing a lot about the use of oxytocin to relieve anxiety in kids on the spectrum. Does anyone have experiences they can share?

Subject: Question about Dallas public schools

A friend of mine may be moving to Dallas later this year and she would like information about high schools for her neuro-typical son who is currently enrolled in a Magnet/Vanguard

program in HISD, which serves gifted and talented students. She would like to know which public high schools in Dallas and its surrounding suburbs are known for their accelerated academic programs? She already has a list of schools for kids with autism/learning

differences but really needs to find out about GT/general ed.

Thank you.

Hi Debra,

We used it for while and we could not really a definite difference. However, that was back few years ago when it just started being used for autism. The called it the love hormone :). The doctor was still experimenting with dosages. We stopped using it as we moved on to the Psychiatric drugs as was having really bad aggressive episodes.

I have heard of other parents that reported some positive results, but that's just like everything else, these reports are not consistent.

HTH,

Oxytocin

I wouldn't say it relieved anxiety on the whole but it did help my son be more comfortable touching other people and being touched. Overall he just seems more at ease in close spaces with people. He still gets anxious about schedule changes etc...

  • 2 weeks later...

ooohhhh I didn't think of using it in a crisis situation. Thanks for the tip Gaylen! T

Best stuff EVER!  It has been extremely helpful for my son's public anxiety.  Will stop a panic moment within seconds.
