For the cortisol testing, the ranges themselves are designed to reflect a natural drop throughout the day. But, your results show that you are dropping from below midrange in the morning to the lowest end of the range in the evening - i.e., you are 43% in the range in the morning and noon (44%) but then you drop to 23% in range in early evening and then finally at the dead bottom of the range at bedtime.  If you look at the ZRT lab information, it looks like you could be transitioning from an Adrenal Stress pattern to Adrenal burnout:

http://tinyurl.com/7s2m96eWhat did the write-up on the ZRT results say about cortisol?  And, how did your symptoms map to issues. My initial results were extremely close to your own (6.0, 2.4, .5 and .4), and for the symptom mapping portion of the test results, low cortisol clearly stood out as a major issue.  Low androgens (like your low DHEA) were another issue for me.  You might ask your doctor about treating that.  Again, a lot of the better docs are looking for results that are higher in the range rather than lower.

I'm just sharing what I have experienced.  Getting support for my adrenals has made a huge difference in my overall well being. If I skip my adrenal supplements (I take an adrenal glandular that doc recommends), I have no energy and feel like a slug (even if I take my thyroid).   If you look at the symptoms of adrenal problems, it's hard to separate from some thyroid symptoms, in particular fatigue and depression.

Hello and thank you for the explanation. Doctor (one who was recommended on this site and in my opinion would give me more meds if I asked for it) stated that I do not need an increase and actually decreased my medication to 15 mg (1/4 grain) she thinks I am getting too much. She also thinks cortisol looks great and has a nice and has a nice decline curve throughout thee day. I did not take medication that day for the labs. And fasted other than coffee with cream about 6 hrs prior.

Thanks again.

Couple of thoughts.

1) It's been discussed on this board that when you start medication or do

increases, the increased external hormone in your blood stream triggers the

pituitary system to think you are doing better with your levels, and so it shuts

down the production of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone and your natural thyroid

gland reduces it's own production in response. Hence, the crash. And you have to

wait for the new external medication to build up both the T3 and the T4 that

converts to T3 more slowly, to feel better. JMHO but I think the doc is nuts who

told you to get off of it and thought you were depressed. You are on a small

starter dose, IMO, and probably have a good ways to go. I also question a doc

who says, because you feel more tired, that you need a dose reduction. Huh? If

you went hyper, felt too sped up, jittery, heart palps, you'd back off a bit for

awhile.

2) Many of us reported back in 2009 that the new Armour caused us to crash. I

switched to Naturethroid and then the straight compounded thyroid med because of

this. Many reported that the new formulation which had different binding agents,

cellulose rather than dextrose based, interfered and we got less hormone in our

cells. So this is possibly why you felt bad starting the Armour.

3) I have read that adrenal fatigue folks tend to have more energy at night. I

know I'm in that group, have been for a long time, have had long term adrenal

stress issues. But my cortisol levels are ok and my saliva test results were

almost perfectly down the channel. Are you tired/exhausted/sleepy or tired from

feeling stressed/anxious?

All JMHO.

Hopefully others will chime in on this.

I am too tired/exhausted to be stressed..does that make sense? I am going to

continue take my 1/2 grain at night and maybe take another 1/4 grain in morning.

I feel weird doing this because three docs said no your levels are fine, but

this board and two others point to possibly being under medicated.

I will need guidance from my new friends on this site of signs of hyper, I used

to be pretty high strung and will confuse it for me being my normal self:)

Another note..my temp in mornings and throughout day has been about 97.3 give or

take. Temp this morning is 98.0 (yeah!!!!) And I'm pretty awake. Hoping its

related to changing of taking meds at night vs possibly being in ovulation. I

also started mega multivitamin and thyrosol.

Happy New Year everyone and THANK you for your support. I feel alone and its

nice to have others out there who understand.
