Guest guest
In medicine, however, some of the acronyms commonly used by doctors are losing popularity, apparently. Maybe people have started to have enough of them? I decided that my flat really isn't asthma friendly, as it was a mess, and I've not cleaned or vaccummed for AGES! I tidied hte living room on Monday then finished it today, tidied my bedroom, vaccummed both (which is a long job as I moult quite a bit and my hair is long and dark so it shows up on the light carpet, which seems to retain hair for some reason, plus there is a reason my vaccuum was only £12 - it's rubbish!), then I need to clean the kitchen and bathrooms, including the floors, clean the mouldy bits off my windows and blinds (kitchen and living room from cooking and forgetting to put the extractor fan on, bedroom cos I have an en-suite and kept forgetting to shut the door when in the shower!), then finally tidy my workroom, whcih is a BIG job as it's been a general dumping ground for stuff since I moved in in July last year. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me. I called the pharmacy to get my refill on symbicort $225.00!! oh sure I have that much money laying around. My insurance at my job has renewed and I have a deductible of $1200.00. There is no way in hell I can meet that. So how am I suppose to get my Rx's now, I can't afford to not have symbicort or my flovent or any of the other junk I take. In Jan 09. I had a hospital stay and that somehow met my deductble. This time I have been feeling better (knock on wood) Due being on the symbicort. I am just mad and frustrated and sick and tired of this all. I just want to give up. I honestly do. I'm trying to fight back tears but I am having so many other issues as it is. thanks "Two like souls will inevitably attract themselves like magnets"
Guest guest
I just took medical terminology last quarter, and they are dropping some of the abbreviations being used in reference to instructions given to patients about how to take their prescriptions. It has been realized that too many people did not clearly understand that 3 TT qd means they should take 3 tablets daily or...that 1 T tid means to take 1 tablet 3x daily and that the two instructions do not equate to being the same. I just used that reference as an example as to why they are trying to make the switch to plain English in prescriptions. My book has probably 5 pages of acronyms for tests, conditions, symptoms, treatments, etc. Ann In medicine, however, some of the acronyms commonly used by doctors are losing popularity, apparently. Guest guest
Hi, willothewispl here. I thought those abbreviations were for the pharmacist, and medical people, to use. I have never seem them used on any of my prescriptions. Or is that who is tired of them, the medical people? Guest guest
They are...but too many people were misinterpreting them so they are trying to make the switch to plain English. I recently had my doc fill out an asthma action plan and he wrote the instructions out in medical terminology...its a good thing I understand it. Lol.
