I had heard a little about it from the crew. Anyway, He said he has never heard of it. I didn't know what to tell him cause I know nothing about it either. I do not want my left eye to look like my right. Seems stupid cause I can't see out of that eye anyway. he says it still needs to close all the way because things can get in the eye and get infected. I had the sewn eyelid too and it was horrible. It is outdated! there are other options! You may have to take some time to find a doctor, if you like I can try to find info on my doc just to let you know what he was he was not a regular eye doctor at all. There is also the optin of having teardcts plugged, i hear that wworks for many. thereareeyelid sprigs that i aher work well. I have been told by a few doctors that the tasarophy (sewn eeyelid) is almost sadistic in this day and age. But someone referred e to adoc who did know ialso wrote random letters to regular eye surgeos and gota few repes, most sayingthey have doe a few. but the doc i found specialzed in it, he did an excellent job. My eyes look and feel normal now. He is in Orlando FL. Guest guest Posted August 3, 1999 Report Share Posted August 3, 1999 ,I go thru the same problems.I had aspring put in my left eyelid,but after awhile,the dr decided the eye was still getting too dry, so just recently, I had the lower lid raised alittle. One doc suggested to me to have my eye sewn a little, but no thanks. I just use my eye medication religiously. Put plenty of salve in it at night. Just one question for you. Do you have feeling on your eyeball? If you don't, then I can certainly understand the doc wanting to partially sew it shut. If you do have feeling, then you have options! Check them out! Guest guest Posted September 1, 2012 Report Share Posted September 1, 2012 I have been to occular plastic surgeon and he strongly disagrees with Docs doing a tarsorrophy until it is a last resort! I had a canthioplasty, which is a tuck in the eye by the nose; much less noticeable than tarsorrophy; also, the plug in the tear ducts works well for some, Hawkins loves hers.
