Guest guest
Looks to me like you need some T3, but I'm not a doctor... Good luck! Guest guest
It does look like your T3 is in the lowish part of the range. However, if you are having some symptoms of hyper, your ferritin may be low. Low ferritin can make it difficult for some people to tolerate even the appropriate amount of thryoid meds. good health, kidbobo > > I have been having symptoms of thyroid for a couple of months now. Guest guest
My guess is that you're not going to be able to get an endo to do anything since all your labs are within range and your TSH isn't really jumping dramatically. What are your symptoms that you associate with thyroid problems? I ask because in my experience the overlap between symptoms for thyroid disease and things like celiac disease, mold illness, lyme disease and heavy metals (and other environmental toxins) are significant. I made a chart with all the symptoms I was experiencing (against the symptoms for each of the diseases/illnesses) when I was trying to figure out what was going on with me and it was impossible to determine which illness/disease I had based on that chart. In the end, I had problems with all of those things (and then some) and it was rare that I could correlate a specific symptom with a specific disease. In a thread earlier this week where we were discussing reverse T3 and one article I found noted that levels of T3 and T4 decrease as a result of increased inflammation. Celiac disease, mold illness and lyme disease all contribute to inflammation. So, if you have issues like this your body may be producing the T4 and T3, it's just not bio available as the toxins impact the enzymes that are necessary for your body to use the thyroid hormones. This is one of the reasons that many of us need much larger doses of replacement thyroid hormone than the amounts that docs think one should need based upon the levels that are produced by a " healthy " thyroid. And, unfortunately, most endos are totally clueless about autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases impact on thyroid (lyme in particular) or the impact of toxins on the thyroid. An excellent book on this topic is by Mark Starr - " Hypothyroidism Type II " . Good luck. B. I have been having symptoms of thyroid for a couple of months now. I do have my labs.. Guest guest
I don't take any thyroid meds, but I do have low ferritin. It's at 14 range is 10-154 and my iron, total is 60 range is 40-175. Could this cause these symptoms, especially rapid heart beat? > > > > I have been having symptoms of thyroid for a couple of months now. Guest guest
Ferritin at 14 could be the cause of all of your symptoms, including the elevated heart rate. Low ferritin and other iron levels mimic hypothyroidism. Are you cold when others are not? Fatigued? Depressed? With optimal thyroid levels, and a ferritin of 30, I was losing hair. Most of us need our ferritin to be between 60 and 100. > > >> > > I have been having symptoms of thyroid for a couple of months now.
