Hi Everyone,

The last I don't know how many years I have been having problems with either my sinuses or something.

I finally gave them 2 cultures, even when it is either green or yellow and they come back normal.

I am still coughing. The pulmonologist doesn't know what to give me and they don't know what to do in the between times (of my asthma flares) of going to the GI due to having GERD and I have to go back to the ENT even though the ENT have said they won't do another surgery on me (polyps?) due to having 3 kids and that is why I have sinus problems (cold bugs? ??) and why my asthma keeps kicking in on me during the winter.

The coughing bothers me due to it bothers my head with my shunt and I end up feeling like my head doesn't have any liquid in it.

I get a headache and lyrica isn't cheap to take to help with the headache feeling for trying to help headaches. The pulmonary did scribe a cough med for me to take at night, thankfully.

My IGE is 1300 and some and I tried for that zolair shot but got denied (we are appealing) due to my IGE is too high. I guess their max is 700 and my daughter is an 800 and she is able to get her shot, (it is trying to find the gas money to make it to the clinic to get the shot and then I am afraid of the side effects for her but I don't know what could happen)

Everyone is different so it isn't like I can take the shot for her to find out if it works or not. Strange thing, she would have allergies, then I don't but when I do have allergies bothering me, she doesn't?? Strange?

Right now I am afraid I would end up on prednisone every day because my asthma keeps flaring. And my doctors won't let me have any on hand just in case I do have a flare.. I am not use to this and being 20 miles away from any walk in or ER should i have prednisone on hand or not?? Are the rules changing? Are others messing things up for the asthmatics? I don't understand, one minute they trust and the next they don't. The one time I ended up with a tube down my throat, the attending doctor, gave me a 100 tablets to have on hand and that was a regular doctor.

Am sorry for the ramble but ever since I had that bad attack, I have nightmares of not being able to breath and am afraid of fire and I also think that is a breathing thing.

If I have repeated myself I am sorry. I don't always remember now who I have written to about what is going on with me. My brain tumor that i had didn't help me in that respect. (my memory) Let me know what you think.

I did finally find out that they don't have any pulmonary doctor for a child unless i want to go to the state captial city to see one. That would be a good 6-8 hour at least drive for me or my husband.

I am sorry for the rambling.

Hi ,

I am in the Xolair group here on Yahoo. I've heard of folks with higher IgE who are getting the shot. You might want to ask some of the folks there if you have specific Xolair questions. The group spells the name with X not Z. Mike McBride

,Where in the heck do you live in Wisconsin?  I don't know what to tell you, I hope you are able to get something figured out quick, and I would ask your primary care for the steroids if your allergist or pulmonologist won't give them to you.

I wish I could be more helpful!!

Don't worry about rambling. Asthma can be a very confusing, frightning, and frustrating disease. As for the allergies, it just sounds like your daughter is allergic to different things than you are. That is a lot more common than you would expect. The same is true for my youngest and my husband. They both have seasonal allergies at different times. He is mainly allergic to grass and pine pollens while her allergies are weeds and flowering trees for the most part. I don't have seasonal allergies per se. Also, I understand your fear. It is easy to say, but you really have to find a way to conquer your fear. I have found that knowledge is my best weapon against fear. The more I understand the process of what is happening in my lungs, the more control I feel I have. That gives me strength and helps to keep me calm. Good luck with the Xolair. I know

Mike McBride has had terrific success with it. However, like most everything connected with asthma, it doesn't work the same for everyone.. Madeline http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lungs_on_Vacation/
