There was an article on ph Mercola's website some time ago. I don't remember what the drug was.

The synthetics I will ask for are T3 and T4 in gelatin capsules with only olive oil as the filler. I cannot tolerate anything else.

Compounded synthetic T3 and T4 in olive oil capsules from Womens International Pharmacy. I have used both of them before along with my ERFA, and they are excellent.

Thyroid hormone is fat soluble, so the oil aids in absorption.

This is a feed additive. The drug in Mercola's article was an injectible. Evidently, a number of drugs are allowed to be administered to food animals.

My primary care doc, Alan Berg, says he only rarely eats meat because of all the junk that may be in it.

ERFA is porcine thyroid from Canada. I send my script to a Canadian pharmacy and get it in the mail. There is a folder of Canadian pharmacies in "Links" on this site.

For some of us, there is not enough T4 in porcine thyroid, so we take a little levothyroxine along with it. I have also used a little synthetic T3 when attempting to transition to Dr. Spurlock's RT3 protocol. I tried Cytomel first, but could not tolerate the fillers. Then I switched to compounded T3 from WIP.

I am now back to 305 mg of ERFA plus 35 mcg of levothyroxine compounded in oil capsules from WIP. I occasionally take 5 mcg of the compounded T3 when I am in a slump.

Any T3 or T4 that you can get separately is synthetic, whether it is compounded or a standard product such as Levoxyl or Cytomel.
